Multiple Bank accounts from the same bank and bank feeds

I have three bank accounts at Bank of America. Why does QB PRO 2019 not allow me to have a direct connection for all three accounts?  Why does QB not support multiple ID's for the same financial institution? I receive the message "You have a different customer ID set up with another QB account for this financial institution? One would think this would be a simple improvement that Intuit would implement

Hello, pasteve99.

Thanks for connecting with us here in the Community. I'm here to address your concern with connecting your multiple IDs for the same bank.

At this time, connecting multiple customer IDS with the same Financial Institution is unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). This feature is up and running for Online (QBO) users.

For more in-depth information about bank feeds, you can refer to this article: Online banking feature in QBDT.

We are constantly improving our product's features to meet your needs. Everything we have developed within the program derives from listening to our customers.

You can check out regularly for product updates and feature enhancements by following these steps:

  1. Open QuickBooks.
  2. Go to Help.
  3. Select New Features.
  4. Choose either New Feature Tour or What's New.

The online Quickbooks doesn't seem to allow me to add multiple checking accounts either.  Same issue on the desktop application.

Thank you for joining the thread, @matt-qb.

Allow me to step in and share some insights about adding multiple bank accounts in QBO.

If you're using the same bank, you can add multiple bank accounts using the same login credentials.

If you're adding multiple checking accounts for the same bank, you can use sub-accounts. Before doing so, you'll need to know how your bank sends the downloaded transactions. If the transactions download to individual accounts, you should connect the sub-accounts only. If you try to connect both the parent and it's sub-accounts, you'll get a message that the account is already connected.

For more information about sub account setup, you can refer to this article: About bank or credit card subaccount setup.

Let me know if you have other questions about adding multiple checking accounts. I'll be here to help however I can.

Re: Multiple Bank accounts from the same bank and bank feeds

QuickBooks claims that their usury antitrust fee increases are for all the new "useless" features they have added, yet features we actually need, are never added, they only care how much money they can extort from you.  They ought to try to listen to their users. I have been actively searching for a competitor since their recent 80% price increase. I use Drake Tax software, Drake has only had two price increases in 27 yrs., yet their tax program has improved 10,000% in that time, Drake Software Accounting Pro a $795 "Write Up” program with Payroll is "INCLUDED" with their tax program for only $100 more. Drake Complete Tax (all 1040, 1120,1120S, 1065, 1041, 990, 706, ALL STATES and cities) unlimited E-filing AND Drake Accounting with  PAYROLL and  on the fly w-2's, 1099's, 1098's etc. with e-filing what for it---only $1,395 if purchased by May 31st  and Drake Accounting is rapidly improving and is almost matching or likely exceeding  QuickBooks functionality, The big hold up on switching 100% is getting all my clients to switch to Drake Accounting which I'm in the process of doing. Drake's absolute biggest advantages is cost and what nobody can match is DRAKE SUPPORT answers their "software support phones" within 3 rings, with a LIVE person who can actually help you immediately solve your support issue.  I have never had the phone ring 4 times before they answer, at least that I recall in 30 yrs. of using their tax software.  So, give the NO PHONE TREE exceptionally quick call answering, I typically call rather than try to research for a simple answer to my software support question. I strongly encourage EVERYONE to SAVE your sanity and money check out "DRAKE ACCOUNTING” -----QuickBooks greedy unethical Management team may have met their nemesis.  Drake Software is a highly ethical Christian company who actually wants to help accounting professionals succeed, by charging an "ethical fair fee" that provides TRUE value for services provided. Drake has only raised their prices twice in 27 year by less than 20% total. ----vs QuickBooks my cost has increased 326% in 5 years- proving  Intuit executives are motivated by PURE GREED..

Re: Multiple Bank accounts from the same bank and bank feeds

My Original Post is Shown Below - However I just wanted to post an update to my findings for those who ran into the same issue:

I decided to delete the link for the one account that could not link due to this issue.  I already had a QBO file I downloaded from the banks website earlier and decided to try and import it again.  This time when it asked me to map to an account, my account appeared in the drop down list and BAM!  I was able to go through the transactions the same way as if the bank feed did it.  So HOLY M.. F.... S....!!!  After hours of pulling what is left of my hair follicles did I manage to overcome yet another shortfall of the Intuit's programmers.  Perhaps this software has gotten to be too much as a monster for Intuit to handle.  Maybe, just maybe it's time to take all versions from after 2008 and throw them in the dumpster.  QBD Pro 2008 worked great for everything.  Think about it Intuit!  I mean, you would save on development costs as well as salaries plus there would be plenty left over for the top executives who only care about their big fat paychecks anyway.  Just leave these programs alone so us little peons can get the work done!!!  GOD - now to get done what should have been a few minutes work!!

Original Post below:

Wow - yet another "scratch my head for 2 hours" before I read this post.  I use almost every edition of QB Desktop as well as the Online versions for my clients.  One client in particular, I went from QBD 2017 Pro to QBD 2018 Pro and I had no issues with multiple accounts within the same financial institution, in this case American Express.  Then unfortunately I had to switch to a new computer.  After installing the programs once again, as well as adding yet another version of QBD (2018 Enterprise Solutions Retail) that's when I came to discover I have this same issue.  Not sure if it's caused by the ESR version yet.  However, now when I open QBD 2018 Pro, I was going nuts trying both importing transactions from within the bank feed and importing from a file from the external download.  Both times I was asked to create another account when I clearly already had one linked up.  I decided to delete the link which is when I found I could not create a new link, which is when I found this post on this problem.  I refuse to bring small businesses up to QBO just for these features that have already been available in prior versions!  I have been with QB since QB V1 many many MANY moons ago.  Yes, it's all about making money and stopping the duplicity of support for many different platforms.  INTUIT - IF YOU SIMPLY TELL US YOUR INTENTIONS THEN WE CAN PREPARE OURSELVES FOR WHAT'S TO COME!!  Just tell us you are phasing out the desktop versions and either we'll make the decision to accept you for what you are or will be, or switch to another software company.  This new generation of versions have been excruciatingly inefficient costing so many users and professionals lost time as well as revenues.

THANK GOD I am retired.  Perhaps it's time to see Quickbooks retire as well.  Sometimes it's good to go out on top...

Oh - one last thing.  I did notice and researched the fact that QBD 2018 Pro can not run simultaneously with QBD Enterprise 2018.  Perhaps this is what may be causing my issue.  I really doubt the response that "connecting multiple customer IDS with the same Financial Institution is unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT)" doesn't work when I was clearly using it.
