My account balance is wrong, my reconciliations are fine, but there are extra transactions in my account. How do I get rid of them? Do I just delete them?

How do I get my bank balance to match my reconciled totals? I have a bunch of transactions that are not cleared and not reconciled messing up my bank balance.

From a business perspective, it's essential for the bank balance and QuickBooks balance to match during the reconciliation process, @lpblue.

Begin by thoroughly reviewing all transactions you have entered and ensuring they align with your bank statements. Once you confirm that the transactions are indeed present on your bank statement, reconcile each one manually to ensure that your bank balance matches your reconciled totals.

Here's how to do it:

  1. Go to Transactions and select Chart of accounts.
  2. Choose the bank account you want to reconcile and click View register.
  3. Click on a transaction, and in the Check column, click it until it displays an R.

If you verify that certain transactions don't appear on your bank statement, you can exclude them from your reconciliation.

On top of that, each time you begin reconciling an account, be sure to review the beginning balance in QuickBooks. To learn more about the reconciliation workflow, refer to this article: Reconcile workflow.
