I'm here to make sure you're able to get the most updated banking transactions in your QuickBooks Online, @mountainpathcoffee!
May I know the name of your bank? This way, I can check if there's an ongoing investigation related to your concern.
In the meantime, you can manually update your bank accounts in QuickBooks Online. Here's how:
If you're getting the same result, you can sign in to your bank's website to check if there are any alerts or notifications that may block QuickBooks from downloading new transactions. Please refer to this link on how: What to do if bank transactions won’t download or there's a bank error.
In the meantime, you can upload the transactions manually to ensure the account is up-to-date. Download the data from your bank then map the transactions in the following supported formats or file types:
For the information and steps on importing these files, see this article: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.
Visit me here again in the Community and keep me posted on your progress with this banking issue. I'm determined to help you succeed.
My Bank is Verity Credit Union in Seattle.
I try updating manually several times a day and it doesn't work. Quickbooks recognizes the account balance but does not download the transactions. This has been going on since October 5th.
Thanks for following up with the Community, mountainpathcoffee.
I've reviewed our ongoing/solved investigations for any records of the Online Banking feature not working properly with Verity Credit Union. Currently, there's no investigation about this.
I'd be more than happy to guide you through some of our troubleshooting steps for when bank feeds aren't working as intended.
For a standard feed, you'll want to sign in to your bank account directly through the bank's website and navigate to your transactions page. Next, confirm there aren't any messages or prompts to action, then log out.
If the bank feed still isn't syncing after acknowledging all notices from your bank, you can clear Intuit-specific cookies and cached data. Sometimes these temporary internet files can cause issues.
In the event your online banking connection still isn't working, try updating its sign in info.
1. Go to Banking, choose the appropriate account, then hit Update.
2. Enter your updated username and password in one of these two ways:
3. Press Save and connect.
5. Once a confirmation message displays, select I'm done, Let's go!.
Now your log in details will be updated.

If you continue experiencing problems with your Online Banking, please don't hesitate in sending a reply. I'll be here to continue helping. Have a wonderful day!
I have already logged out and then back into the bank account. I update manually several times per day. I went through as many of these community articles as I could for a few days before I posted.
The suggestion about the cookies was new. I will try that.
So far nothing is working. Quickbooks is not creating any error codes. The bank is not showing anything wrong. No error codes. I tried clearing the cache. No luck. I get the same behavior regardless of the device I use. I access my QB from my desktop, laptop, and iPhone. None of them download the transactions.
This has all the hall marks of a communications protocol change. I notice Quickbooks Online will change its features and functions without warning fairly often. This seems like it could be a bug in how QB Online reads the difference between "pending" and "completed" transactions. Again, my Quickbooks can "see" the account balance. There are no errors signaling that QB cannot sign into the account. It is signing into the account but it is not downloading the transactions.
This is starting to effect my ability to keep track of income and invoices. I would really appreciate some legitimate effort on Intuit's part to resolve this. Please.
I'd appreciate for performing the steps provided by my colleagues, mountainpathcoffee.
I'm here to help you bring your transactions into QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Once you've linked a bank account into QuickBooks, most financial institutions, QuickBooks automatically downloads your transaction data each night. Also, you've got the option to manually update your account to add any transactions that have cleared since the last automatic download. You can refer to this article for detailed information: Manually download online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.
We can manually add bank transactions by using the WebConnect feature. You'll need to download the data first from your bank's website and import to QuickBooks Online.
After that, log in to your QuickBooks Online account. Once done, we can add transaction by importing it using CSV files. Though, to successfully add transactions using CSV files, we need to follow the bank formats. Let me show you how to import transaction:
Once the import is completed, you'll be directed to the Banking menu where the imported transactions are displayed on the For Review tab. You can review, add, or match each transaction.
For more information about import CSV Files, you can check out this article: Import bank transactions using Excel CSV files.
To manage your bank transactions, you can refer to this article: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.
However, If the same thing happens, it would be best to get in touch with our Support Team to check and investigate this further for you. To contact support, you may check it here: Contact the QuickBooks Online Customer Support team.
I want to make sure that you'll be able to download data to your bank, please don't hesitate to let me know how it goes. If you should have additional questions, I'm just a click away. Take care.
This does not help me at all. I am not interested in work arounds and kludges. I pay good money for this service and I think it's rational that it should work correctly. I do not think I am asking too much by requesting that Intuit try to resolve a communication. It worked before 10-5 and now it does not. Part of why I am willing to let Intuit overcharge me is the convenience that QB offers in the integration with my bank and payments. If this integration is no longer available then I will start looking for non-Intuit solutions to my small business accounting needs. If I have to do everything manually then there is no reason to use QuickBooks any longer and I might end up with better customer service and technical support.
I really need Intuit to help resolve the issue where QuickBooks is not recognizing or downloading the bank transactions.
Please and Thank you.
Help is on the way
Hi there, mountainpathcoffee.
I appreciate your efforts in trying to reach out to our support team. I want to make sure you’ll get real-time assistance with your concern.
We’ve streamlined the process of asking for help from our QBO Care Team. Instead of contacting us, you can now sign up to our call back process or get real-time help via the Message an agent option.
I know you’ve reached out to us about the connection issue for your bank. However, I still recommend contacting us again for further investigation. To save your business time, choose the callback feature. One of our phone specialists will get in touch with you based on the time entered in the Get a Callback window.
Make sure to provide the case number so one of our agents can look into the notes from the previous agents. Then, continue in performing the troubleshooting steps from where they left off.
You can bookmark this guide for future reference. It covers all the steps on how to fetch new entries and resolve common banking issues: What to do if you see a bank error or bank transactions won’t download.
Keep in me posted if you need assistance with QuickBooks. Please know the Community has your back, and I’m here ready to help. Have a good one.
An Intuit Tech support person called me this afternoon. It was a real disappointment.
The Intuit tech was trying to convince me that I screwed up my company file because I didn't close down my QB Online properly every time. He couldn't explain why closing the browser was any different than a timeout, though, and I've been treating QBO the same since April 2019 with no issues. He was trying to convince me that I was slowly introducing errors into the company file and that it would have to be "remapped", for $200, the cost of a one time upgrade to QB Advanced. I think he must make commissions from the upgrades. If the company file can accumulate small address errors over a year and a half and then become corrupted enough to suddenly not update bank transactions.... sounds like bad programming to me. And I have ZERO ability to back up or check the company file for integrity. You'd think that Quickbooks would scan the company file for structural integrity at night and give you a warning that something looked out of place. I'm also really incredulous that a really basic communication error like this is the result of 18months of accumulated flotsam and jetsam in the company file. And if QB has no ability to detect that kind of thing, then again, that is not my issue. (I mean, it is, but I'm not the guy who programmed it.) So why should I have to pay $200 for a subscription upgrade when the diagnosis is pretty weak to begin with. I just hate that little guys like me have no recourse with these giant companies.
I think it's pretty ridiculous that the tech tried to blame me for not closing down the web app properly. If this was such an essential function then I would imagine that Quickbooks could detect an incomplete shut down and send me a message like:
"It looks like you didn't sign out of QuickBooks Online properly at the end of your last session. Please make sure to sign out every time. This helps to maintain the integrity of the company file."
I would also have to imagine that the internet and YouTube would be crawling with end user advice and videos saying:
"Make sure to sign off properly. Intuit will charge you $200 to fix a company file!!"
I have searched for other people having this issue with a corrupted company file because they didn't sign out of their web session "correctly" and no dice. I think the tech guy was pulling this diagnosis out of his a**. I do troubleshooting and diagnosis for a living. I can tell when something doesn't make sense.
At this point I am researching how to ditch QuickBooks altogether. I've always resented how Intuit treats its customers like ore to be mined for cash. Everything always costs just a little bit more. There are some truly convenient features in QB but unfortunately they don't outweigh the glaring truth that Intuit isn't really a customer focused company. It's a transaction focused company that uses the general populations ignorance of accounting and fear of the consequences of state laws to bludgeon people into using its products. And Intuit, no doubt because it is the dominant provider in the market, has no real reason to provide customer service. People still sign up for it and use it. But being on hold with Intuit is LEGEND. Small business people can always connect with each other about how they hate using QuickBooks but they feel like they have to. So, good job? Way to dominate that market space, guys. Way to go.
If you can help me solve this issue before I can switch to Xero or Wave I'm willing to listen but otherwise you have lost a customer.
The transactions downloaded again last night. I didn't do anything different on my part. I don't know if it was on the bank side of the communication or the Intuit side. Maybe it will be a mystery forever.
Turns out my bank had been working with Intuit to resolve the broken connections. It was not a bad company file as the Intuit Support tech tried to imply. It was a broken communication protocol between Intuit and Verity as I had suspected.
I understand your frustrations about PNC accounts not updating, Alia.
We've received reports that some customers are also having connection issues with the PNC bank. Others are getting errors and some OAUTH accounts are missing. Any bank issues will block QuickBooks from downloading transactions.
In your case, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Online Team so they can check what's blocking your PNC accounts from downloading bank transactions.
Here's how to contact them:
You can also check our support hours to get our supports at a convenient time.
Stay in touch with me if you need additional information about this. I'm always right here to help ensure your books have accurate records.
