Online banking is stuck on an old bank account

We sold one of our stores.  The bank account for it is still there, but the owner went in to check on what needs to happen to close it.  Since then, I've tried pulling the bank feeds and get:  Your last online connection was not completed.  Intuit recommends that you do Send/Receive again to complete the previous connection.

I tried.  I've said 'No'.  I've said 'Yes' and tried again.  I've gone into the bank site outside of QBE and can do so.  I've tried deactivation the account.  None of it works - and now this error message pops up EVERY TIME I do anything with the online banking feeds (we have 14 different accounts that I monitor on a daily basis).  And, when I try to close down.  And, randomly throughout the day (I may have made that one up, but I'm frustrated enough to believe it).

How do I get it to STOP popping up?

Let me help you stop the pop-up error message in QuickBooks, Nikki. I have troubleshooting which is going to help you.

I appreciate all the efforts you've made to deal with this issue. Getting rid of the error is my focus here so you can continue working with your other banks transparently.

The error occurs when a connection is interrupted (system crash, power outage, firewall problem, damaged online vendor payee, or a bill payment received by banks partially) during the last online banking session. Before troubleshooting, I'd recommend contacting your financial institution or re-visiting your bank's website. From there, verify the status of the last transactions sent and the ones that remain in the queue.

Once confirmed, go back to your QBDT and create a backup for future use. After that, follow the steps below to troubleshoot the error:

  1. Switch your bank mode to Register or Classic
  2. Go to your Banking page and uncheck all online checks and bill payments to be sent.
  3. If more than one payment is listed, select and send each payment individually until the damaged transaction is identified.

If you didn't see any payments in the list, let's clear the stuck online transactions. Press and hold the Ctrl key and follow the on-screen instructions because the steps will vary depending on the message received. For the next steps, click this link: Error OL-200, OL-202, OL-206, or OL-226: Your last online connection was not completed.

Furthermore, check out these articles below on how to modify bank settings and fix some banking concerns in QuickBooks:

I always check my notifications to monitor any replies. That said, don't hesitate to tag my name in the comment section if you have follow-up questions. I'm always here for you, Nikki. Keep safe.

I had tried this too (google is a wonderment) - and it hadn't worked.  BUT, my computer was on its last legs, and when a significant piece of my display blacked out, it forced the issue to update the machinery.  I still had this problem, though the error message changed, but your hold-the-control-key-down trick worked!  Thank you!
