Preprinted check printing

Just went from QB premier desktop to QB online (not sure I like it) but I can't get pre printed checks to print properly  (my desk top still prints correctly)

Preprinted check printing

I can help you fix the print alignment for preprinted checks, @Eustace

First, make sure to have the latest version of Adobe Reader. Then, set this as the default PDF viewer for your browser. Lastly, try to print a sample.

If you get the same result, proceed with the Fine-tune alignment:

  1. Go to the + New then Print Check.
  2. On the Print checks setup window, select No, continue setup at the bottom right until you get to the Fine-tune alignment page.
  3. Drag the grid inside the large square to the place where it appears on your printout. QuickBooks Online will figure out how to adjust the alignment.
  4. After adjusting the grid, print another sample using a plain paper. Continue to fine-tune until the alignment is OK.
  5. Select View preview and print sample in the lower left, and choose Print icon at the top right.
  6. Click Finish Setup when your sample’s alignment looks good.

Preprinted check printing

The problem seems to be QB online check printing only works on QB 3 page checks not on my 2 page carbon copy checks

I can share additional information on how printing checks work in QuickBooks Online, @Eustace.

Aside from your Adobe reader and the pre-printed check configuration, you'd also want to check your browser's printing settings. Let's first check how your printing preference is set.

  1. Go to the Gear Icon.
  2. Choose Payroll Settings.
  3. Pick the Preferences tab.
  4. Select Paycheck printing settings.
  5. From the Paycheck and Pay Stub Printing section, choose Preprinted QuickBooks®-compatible voucher check stock.
  6. Choose how'd you like your checks to be printed.
  7. Set the number of copies you want to print.
  8. Click Ok

Once verified, now you can check your printer setup.

Meanwhile, you can read through these articles to learn more about printing checks using different browsers:

When printing a preprinted check that is too high, you can choose a letter further down the list to move the information down the page. For your guidelines, you can go to Printing too high section in this article: How to align preprinted paychecks.

Keep me posted if you have other questions.
