Welcome to the Community, @beverlybloom-afl,
Allow me to share some information about connecting banks. There are a few reasons why you can't link your bank to the program. You might have entered the wrong bank URL, or it can also be that the connected account types to your bank are limited. To know more, kindly visit: Find your bank or credit card account when you connect to online banking.
To ensure that you link the correct bank account, log in to your bank's website and copy its URL. Paste it afterward on the Search field in QBO. For detailed steps, refer below:
1. On the left panel menu, select Banking.
2. In the Banking page, select Link account.
3. In the Search bar, paste the bank's URL.
4. Choose your bank. (Note: If there are multiple options, you may have to repeat these steps to find the correct account.)
5. On your bank's website, enter your bank login. Then select Continue.

Please refer to this article for troubleshooting steps if you happen to encounter errors in linking your bank account: What to do if you get a bank error or can't download transactions in QuickBooks Online.
If the issue persists, I suggest accessing your account using a different browser or a private window. You may try to link your bank account there and clear your browser's cache and cookies if it works.
You can manually upload transactions as a workaround if the issue is still the same. You can then categorize and match them once done.

Utilize the trial version of MT Online to isolate the issue. It is designed to import into any bank or credit card in QuickBooks Online, so there is no specific setting needed. If the same error persists, there is an ongoing problem at your bank or connection.
