QBO not matching bank balance

Did QBO change the way  it handles/displays Bank Balance vs. QBO Balance (Banking/Banking screen)?

My client set up a new credit card account. There are 3 transactions he made, and all came in via the bank feed correctly.  So his QBO balance shows, say, $100.  But the "Bank Balance" box shows $0.00.  These transactions show on the bank (credit card) website and of course that's how they got into QBO in the first place. So why does "Bank Balance" say $0.00?

Shouldn't they match, or is QBO waiting for a bank reconciliation to show the correct (as of the date on the bank statement) balance, which prob means they will never match?

I've had others ask me as well so I'd like to make sure I am advising the clients correctly.

Thanks!

QBO not matching bank balance

Welcome to the Community, @DS127. I'm here to provide information about your bank balance concern.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), the bank balance is the actual balance of your account from the last bank feed update. While the QBO balance is the sum of all bank transactions that you’ve added or matched to QBO. To further provide a resolution for this, may I know the name of the specific credit card added to QBO? Any additional information is a great help.

In the meantime, let's perform a manual update to the added credit card to check and update its balance. I'll show how:

  1. In your QBO account, select the Banking or Transactions menu.
  2. Then, click the Update button.
  3. If prompted, enter your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
  4. Next, click Continue update.

For your reference, feel free to check this article: Download the most recent bank and credit card transactions in QuickBooks Online. This process can help refresh the connection of your credit card account to QBO.

Then, to ensure your QBO accounts always match your credit card or bank statements, it's recommended to perform a reconciliation process regularly. Once done, pulling up a reconciliation report is also important so you'll be able to check your balances and those cleared and uncleared transactions.

Don't hesitate to post again here if you have other questions or concerns about your credit card accounts in QBO. I'm always around happy to help. Take care.

QBO not matching bank balance

yes, i know this and did this.  I'm adding a couple screen shots to be more clear.  The bank register shows $243.24 from the transactions that came in via the bank feed. Only 5 transactions in the account because it was just opened as I mentioned before.

Looks like i have to send the second screenshot in a separate post.

Here's the screenshot showing the Banking/Banking screen where you see the QBO balance ($243.24) and the "Bank Balance" which says $0.00.  Why the $0.00?  thanks.

I just ran a manual update, FYI.  Pretty straightforward bc it is a new account with only the 5 transactions.

QBO not matching bank balance

Appreciate the screenshots, @DS127. I'll help share details about bank balance.

In QuickBooks Online, the bank balance is the said amount of transactions in the account when you started tracking it. It has a $0.00 bank balance since it is a new credit card account, created by your client.

I'm adding this article to make sure your client's account register matches the monthly bank and credit card statements: Use this Guide Anytime you need Help Doing or Fixing a Reconciliation.
