Quickbooks not showing unmatched transactions

Greetings,

Quickbooks Desktop 2020 has thrown me for a loop again since upgrading. My unmatched transactions are not appearing when I want to "match to an existing transaction" after downloading from the bank.  They do not appear when "last 30 days" is marked and they do not appear when I select "show all".  I can see the check is still listed in the register and there is nothing marked that would prevent me from matching, such as reconciliation. They just are not showing up. At this point I feel like it's a QB bug, but would be grateful if anyone here could point me in the right direction to resolving this (maybe I need to download/install QBs again??)

I have attached a screen shot of what I see. Thank you for you help in advance.

Thanks for sharing the screenshot of your Bank Feeds, Jackie1113.

Let me share some steps that can resolve unexpected behavior when using QuicBooks Desktop.

Start by making sure that your software is on the latest maintenance release. The steps on this process can be found here: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.

Once done, go back to the Bank Feeds Center and check if you can already see the unmatched transactions.

Just in case you can't still see the check, proceed to repairing the software. Let me share this as a guide: Repair your QuickBooks Desktop for Windows.

Then, check again if you can already see the unmatched transactions. Keep us posted if you still need help with your banking transactions.

Quickbooks not showing unmatched transactions

Hi JenoP,

Thank you for your response. Ironically my QB went through an update last night (currently at R7-89); however, I am still not able to see any transactions to match to. When I go to attempt the next step you suggested I cannot modify or "repair" QB as the article says. I am only able to uninstall QB. I am attaching another screen shot...you can see the modify button is not highlighted and will not allow me to select it.

Any suggestions? Maybe uninstall and reinstall at this point? Or is this a tool that aids in QB fixes I can download?

Hi there, Jackie1113.

Thank you for providing a screenshot and the troubleshooting steps you've performed to resolve the issue.

Since the problem persists, I recommend running the Verify and Rebuild Utilities to check more if this could be a data issueThese are built-in tools used to validate whether your file is in good shape and fix common issues. Uninstalling and Reinstall the QuickBooks Desktop is no need in the process.

Here's how to Verify:

  1. Select Window then Close All.
  2. Select File then choose Utilities.
  3. Click Verify Data.
  4. If QuickBooks detected no problems with your data," no further action is needed.
  5. A specific error message, there may already be an article for it. Try searching for it in our QuickBooks Desktop support site for specific instructions.

If there is data damage in the file, run the Rebuild Data Utilities to correct the problem. Please follow the step below.

  1. Go to File.
  2. Hover over Utilities, then select Rebuild Data.
  3. You'll receive a message to back up your company file, hit OK. This will ensure that you have a secured copy of your company file.
  4. Choose a place to save your backup.
  5. Once the backup is finished, the Rebuild Data utility will start.
  6. When you receive the message, "Rebuild has completed," then press OK.

For additional information, you can check this article: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop. This provides an overview of how to check for the remaining data damage issue.

I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Support Team if the problem continues to occur. They have the tools to pull your account and investigate the cause of the issue.

  1. Press F1 to open the Help window.
  2. From the search icon, type Contact Support.
  3. Click Contact us at the bottom part.
  4. Give a brief description of your issue about match transactions and click the Search button.
  5. You'll be routed with How to connect with a QuickBooks expert and you choose which one is best for you.
  • Ask the Community – allows you to post your question broadly so that a variety of experts can answer.
  • Message an Agent – Allows you to chat directly with a support agent.

Thanks ChristieAnn for your reply. I verified my data and no error message occurred. I feel like this is going to be one of those "bugs" that has no resolution.  QB Desktop 2020 has been nothing but a headache since upgrading to it. I will attempt to call again (the articles I was emailed last time I called were in regards to downloading transactions from the bank...clearly not my issue).

Thank you for joining the thread, @justcarly.

I can share with you some information about transactions not showing up when trying to do a match in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

When you can't find a match to your downloaded transactions, it could be because of the following reasons:

  • The transactions are brand new
  • They're different
  • They're reconciled
  • They're already downloaded

To prevent this from happening, you can:

  • Verify that the transactions have not been reconciled.
  • Check if the transactions were entered using the same bank account.
  • Make sure the Quickbooks transaction has not been previously matched to another bank downloaded transaction.

Once done, you can also check out the details from this article for additional troubleshooting steps and to learn more about adding and matching bank feed transactions in QBDT: Add and match Bank Feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.

As you continue working with banking or reconciliation, you can as well read the details from these articles as your guide:

Hi, that was super un-helpful!  I am having the exact same issue as the original poster in this thread.  When I attempt to "match to existing transaction" from the bank feeds center, none of my register transactions show up for me to match to.  They are not previously reconciled or matched elsewhere, and they're definitely in the same quickbooks account I have the bank feed running to.

I appreciate your time getting back in here, @MauryPeople

There are several reasons why you can't see a match to your downloaded transactions:

  • The transactions are brand new and they're different.
  • Done reconciling and are already downloaded

To avoid this from happening, you can:

  • Review if the transactions were entered using the same bank account.
  • Check that the transactions have not been reconciled.
  • Make sure the QuickBooks transaction has not been previously matched to another bank downloaded transaction.

After verifying and the issue persists, make sure to update your software to the latest release. This helps fix issues in your company file.

  1. Select the Help menu and choose Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Click the Update Now tab.
  3. Select Get Updates to start the download. When the download finishes, restart QuickBooks.
  4. Accept the option to install the new release.

Then, proceed to this articled to repair the software. Simply follow the steps in this article: Repair your QuickBooks Desktop for Windows. Then, check again if you can already see the unmatched transactions.

Lastly, I encourage you to contact again our support team. They have advanced tools to review your account and examine the root cause of the issue.

Feel free to get back to this thread if you have other banking concerns with QuickBooks. I'll be more than happy to help. Keep safe always.

Same issue here and it seems unresolved 18+ months later.  Did all the suggested canned advice, verified latest updates, data verification and rebuild, Tool Hub Quick Fix, all with no success.  File Doctor didn't find anything wrong.

Would appreciate any useful advise or at least get this reported to the programming staff so that can fix the bug!

Same issue.  For me, it started in October when QB required users of 2020 Desktop Pro with a web connect to Bank of America (and other institutions) to recreate the online bank feeds to "Bank of America-New".  After doing that "Register Mode" downloads would not work and a message pops up to switch to reconciling bank feeds from "Register Mode" to "Express Mode".  That allowed new transactions to be downloaded, however when you try to reconcile them, for example to previously entered bills that have been paid, those unreconciled bills do not show up to be matched.  They are in the bank register as unmatched, but they just don't show up in the ExpressMode Recon.

Hello, @zero_kelvin. Let's sort this out to show unmatched bank transactions.

  • Make sure the Quickbooks transaction has not been previously matched to another bank-downloaded transaction.

For now, I'd suggest creating a test file. This is to check if the issue is with your company file or the .qbo file. See if you can import your transactions into a new company file.

  1. From the File menu, select New Company.
  2. Select Express Start or Start Setup and fill out the required fields. Add the word "Test" to the company name so it’s easy to recognize.
  3. Select Start Working.
  4. In the test company, follow the steps to import the .qbo file. Import the transactions into the same bank account you have issues with.

If you can import the file, go back to your original file and reset them.

  1. Open your original company file.
  2. Follow the steps to disconnect the account you're having problems with.
  3. Then reconnect the account.
  4. Once you reconnect, import the .qbo file again.

However, if you couldn't see transactions in the test company file, the issue is likely with the .qbo file from your bank. That said, reach out to your bank for help getting the right file. Banks and financial institutions that use Web Connect know how to handle these types of issues.

For more information about the steps above, check out this article: Fix Web Connect import errors.

You may also want to learn how to download, add, and match bank transactions, you can check these helpful articles for reference:

Don't hold back to drop a comment below if you have additional concerns with importing process. It's my pleasure to be of great
