Quickbooks suggest the same stupid category for every transaction. How to I stop it from predicting this? Super annoying to have to delete the prediction everytime.

Hi tluke,

Usually the first you connect to QuickBooks it will suggest a specific category. However, once you change a category for a specific customer or vendor, QuickBooks will suggest this category the next time you download bank transactions.

If you want to prevent this prediction, we can turn of the Remember category selection settings in your Banking page. Here's how:

  1. Select the bank account in your Banking page.
  2. Above the Action column click on the gear icon.
  3. Uncheck the Remember category selection box.

You can refer to this article for more details on how to deal with downloaded bank transactions

Let me know if you need anything else.

Hi there again, tluke,

Thanks for getting back to the Community and providing an update about this concern.

To further isolate the issue, kindly check if you've set up bank rules for your downloaded transactions.

Here's how:

  1. Click Banking in the left navigation menu.
  2. Go to Rules tab.

From there, check those Active status and determine if it causes the issue.

If you've found the Rule and wanted to remove it permanently, here's what you'll need to do:

  1. Look for the rule and under the Actions column, click the down arrow beside Edit
  2. Click Delete.
  3. Click Yes to confirm the changes.

To know more on how Bank Rules works in QuickBooks Online, you can read this article: How to set and use banking rules for downloaded transactions.

Keep me posted on how things go. I'm always here to help. Have a great day!
