A transaction with a frequent store is always recorded with a mistaken name. Specifically, “Lowe’s Home Centers” purchases are recorded as “Hannaford”. How to fix this?

The problem appears to be that this particular Lowe’s is located on Hannaford Drive. I want this to be an automatic “rule” as I purchase supplies at Lowe’s nearly every week.

Hi @andy-vannesswood,

I'll share insight on your query about bank transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Before we proceed, be advised that the text under the Description column is from your financial institution. The option to edit the information under this column is unavailable.

Going back to the bank rule, here's how you can create it:

  1. Highlight the Transactions tab.
  2. Select Rules.
  3. Click New rule.
  4. Type in a name for the rule.
  5. From the For drop-down menu, choose Money in or Money out.
  6. Under the In drop-down menu, pick the bank or credit card account.
  7. Set the rule conditions.

You can continue these steps from this article: Setup bank rules to categorize online banking transactions in QuickBooks Online. Scroll down and look for Step 7.

I suggest you view this article as well: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online. It will walk you through how you can review your bank transactions and match them accurately.
