Bank account password is not updating

I am trying to update account info for my bank account and although I know I am enterring the correct password it seems to auto-populate the prior password after I click continue and so it says sign-in not working.  Any idea on how to get the prior password out of the system?

This happens if the credentials on your bank's website is not updated yet, sdsteuber.

QuickBooks Online will always try to connect to your bank first to know if there has been a recent update. Let's log in to your bank's website to update your credentials.

Once done, go back to QBO and follow these steps:

  1. From the left menu, select Banking.
  2. On the Banking page, select the correct account and click the Update button.
  3. Click the Edit (pencil) icon next to the bank name.
  4. Select the Edit sign-in info, and then enter your updated bank website username or user ID and password.
  5. Select Save and connect. QBO will then try to connect with your bank to verify your information.
  6. Once you see a confirmation message, select I'm done, Let's go!.

My bank account needed a new password.  It changed it.  Now I cannot get it to work on Quickbooks.  It is changed at the bank.  I just logged on with it.

Please allow me to join the thread so you'll be able to update your bank's new password in QuickBooks Online (QBO).


You can't change your financial institution login information in QBO, as mentioned by my colleague SophiaAnnL, you must log in to your financial institution's or bank's website first to make the necessary changes.

Ever since you QBO update occured, I have to reset the connection for each account with tied to JP Morgan/Chase....every-time.  I believe it has something to do with a "token"    though i have followed every instruction - still not working, and is extremely upsetting for my clients and I
