Can you clear out or start new in QB for the same account? Ex: We have had QB for years but for a yr now before I started, it was not reconciled. I don't have needed info

I have no way to fully and completely reconcile the account as it sits due to the lack of detail the person prior to me did and the company went almost a year without a bookkeeper at all so I started at a disadvantage. Rather than shutting down our existing account and starting fresh, losing all our customer and vendor info, is it possible to start fresh?

Thank you for posting here in the Community, @office-moonautom. And I can definitely help you start over with new books in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Since you're using your QBO for years now and want to start from scratch, you can cancel your current account and start a new company with the same user ID and password you used before. Let me guide you how.

First off, let's cancel your current account. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your current QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Click the Gear icon, then select Account and Settings.
  3. Go to the Billing and subscription menu.
  4. In the QuickBooks tile, click Cancel subscription.
  5. Follow the steps to cancel your account. If you use payroll, you should cancel your payroll account too.

Then, you can now Sign up for QuickBooks Online using the same user ID and password to start a new company.

I'm adding this article for more details: Delete your data and start over in QuickBooks Online.

Please know that I'm just a reply away if you need any further assistance with QuickBooks. Wishing you and your business success.

@office-moonautom

You may open a new QBO account as mentioned by Mark_R

https:// quickbooks.grsm.io/us-promo

then consider to utilize a migration tool to speed up your works if required.

Hello @mark19611,

Let me help share a few things you'll have to consider before you can eliminate the old data of a company with a deleted subscription.

When you cancel a subscription of your company, you can delete it as long as your working with it within 60 days. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to Dashboard.
  2. In the URL or address bar, delete all the text after the last / and enter purgecompany.
    • Before: https://...qbo.intuit.com/app/homepage
    • After: https://...qbo.intuit.com/app/purgecompany
  3. Enter Yes in the confirmation message.
  4. Click Wipe data.

Once done, you can go ahead and use it to start from clean. But if you've been working with your company for more than 60 days, you can let it rest for a year from the date you canceled the subscription.

Once this period ends, the system will completely delete your entire company data. If this is the case, I'd say you'll have to start a new company with a new subscription as well.

If you have any other questions aside from deleting your company data, feel free to leave them in the comments, and tag me (@JonpriL). Stay safe!

If you are using QBO Simple Start, you should open a new blank QBO account.
