Completely remove connection

I connected the wrong bank account for a different busines to Quickbooks Online.  I caught myself and stopped before I imported any transactions but in Business View -> Banking -> Manage Connections, it's just sitting there waiting to be enabled.  How do I completely remove it so there is no chance of this business accessing another's bank feed?

Best,

Hi, @jmarshall9120. Thank you for your quick reply, and I appreciate you sharing screenshots of your Banking screen. Let me provide additional steps so you can remove the unwanted bank accounts from QuickBooks Online (QBO).

As I can see, the account you want to remove isn't linked to QBO yet. It's just waiting to be enabled and connected. This is why the account does not appear under Banking. To pull it out from your record, you can temporarily enable bank so it'll reflect on the Banking page.

  1. Look for the account under Your linked accounts.
  2. Enable the account by clicking on Enable now.
  3. Follow the onscreen instruction to complete the process.

Once connected, go back to the Banking section to disconnect the account.

  1. Locate the account under Banking.
  2. Tap on the pencil icon.
  3. Click on Edit account info.
  4. In the Connected to section, tick your option to Disconnect this account on save.
  5. Click on Save and Close.

You can also learn more about the process from here: Disconnect accounts connected to online banking in QuickBooks Online.

I can assist you in removing your bank account connection from QuickBooks Online, Jamie. This way, there is no risk of this company accessing another's bank feed.

Before disconnecting, I'd recommend excluding the transactions on the For review page. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Banking tab and select For review
  2. Mark all the transactions in the list.
  3. Click Exclude.

Once done, follow the steps below to disconnect:

  1. Go to the Banking menu and choose the tile for the bank account.
  2. Click the pencil icon and select Edit account info.
  3. Hit the Disconnect this account on save checkbox.
  4. Press Save and Close.

For your reference about the process, please see this article: Disconnect accounts connected to online banking in QuickBooks Online.

After that, connect the accurate bank again. Then categorize the transactions. Remember to reconcile your bank regularly to make sure they match your bank statements.

In addition, here's an article to help you fix the accounts you've already reconciled and some banking errors in QBO:

Those options are not available.  The transactions were never imported.  There is nothing on the banking page of the accounting view.  The connection exists solely on the Business View -> Banking -> Manage Connections page.

Thank you for answering, unfortunately none of the options you suggest exist.  Nothing appears on the Accounting View Banking Page and there are not transactions.  The bank connection only exists in the Business View -> Banking -> Manage Connections Page.  I need to remove this connection, as it just sits there waiting to be enabled.

Thanks for following up with the Community, jmarshall9120.

When viewing your books with the Accountant view, you can disconnect connected accounts from your Banking screen.

Here's how:

  1. If you're using the Business view, you'll need to switch to Accountant view. You can do so by using your Gear () icon in the top-right, then selecting Switch to Accountant view.

  2. Once you've confirmed you're using Accountant view, you can go to Banking in your left navigation bar.
  3. Find the bank account you want to make changes for.
  4. If it's not selected yet, click its tile to work with it. Once it's been chosen, its tile will turn from grey to blue.
  5. Use your account's Pencil () icon.
  6. Hit Edit account info.
  7. In the Connected to section, tick your option to Disconnect this account on save.
  8. Select Save and Close.

If you're not seeing the options mentioned above while in Accountant view, I'd recommend clearing cached data and Intuit-specific cookies in the web browser you're using. In the event you still can't see certain options after clearing your cache/cookies, you'll want to confirm the browser, operating system, and internet connection you're working with meet our system requirements.

I've also included a detailed resource about disconnecting accounts from online banking which may come in handy moving forward: Disconnect accounts connected to online banking

Appreciate your attention and expertise!

Unfortunately the steps you propose just aren't available to me.  The bank account I need to disconnect does not appear under the accounting view

As you can see, only the correct account shows up in the Accounting View -> Banking screen.  The incorrect account does not, and therefore I can not remove it using the steps yo u have recommended.
