When I download my bank transactions, sometimes it doesn't auto match. When I click on the individual transaction in the banking section, the default button at the top is set to "add". When I change that to "find match" it immediately finds the correct match. Why isn't it automatically finding the correct match instead of me manually having to click on "find match" for each of the transactions?
Thanks!
Manish
Hello there, Manish.
QuickBooks Online looks at the transaction date and attempts to match transactions within 90 days of the transaction date. However, if you have lots of transaction with the same information, then it won't be automatically matched. In this case, you can use Bank Rules to help you identify which transaction should be matched.
Here's how to create a bank rule:

The problem is I don't have a lot of transactions with the same amount. In fact, when I click on the transaction in "banking" and switch to "find match", it immediately finds it. Then why can't it find in the first place? This only happens to one bank account data which I'm loading via excel.
Good day, Mani1980.
When bank transactions are downloaded, our system analyzes the data, then suggests a match. As what my colleague @Joyce_P said, it will attempt to match transactions within 90 days of the transaction date in QuickBooks Online. If it's created outside the 90 day period, you'll have to manually find the match.
You can check this article for more information: Add and match downloaded banking transactions.
