Can I specify a starting date for bank feeds?

I have previously imported csv files into my credit card accounts instead of using bank feeds.  If I start using bank feeds, is there any way I can specify how far back the feed goes?

Hi Accounting,

There isn't a way to specify a starting date. When you connect a bank feed, QuickBooks can only request up to 90 days of transactions, which it will do automatically. If it's been awhile since you've imported a CSV file for that account, you'll need to make sure that anything in the interim has been accounted for manually. If you have imported CSV files recently, you'll want to verify that no duplicates are automatically brought over when you connect the account to your bank.

Hi, so is there no way to select dates at all? When I clicked download, all October transactions were downloaded and I only wanted through 10/26. You used to be able to select the transaction dates with the classic feed download. My bank doesn't seem to work with the classic feed however.

Hello and welcome to the Community, @SarahD.

 

You are correct, the 90-days or less of transactions downloaded on your initial connection are automatic and cannot be opted out of. The good news is, by using the WebConnect process, you can manually import whichever additional transactions you need. First, I'll help you make sure you've rid of the duplicate October transactions you don't need, just follow these steps:

 

Exclude downloaded bank transactions

  1. From QuickBooks Online, navigate to the Banking tab. Select the For Review section.
  2. Using the filter (funnel icon), sort the list to only include the dates/transactions which you don't need.
  3. Once you have the listed filtered, click the top-left box to select all transactions. On the Batch Actions menu, click Exclude Selected.

We also offer a guide on excluding bank transactions that you may find helpful. In addition to these steps, the video below well depicts the process:

 

 

This will remove the unneeded transactions so as to prevent duplicate items in your books. Next, if there are any prior transactions that you're missing, the WebConnect process will allow you to download them. These instructions will help you get started:

 

Download more than the 90 previous days of transactions

  1. Head to your financial institution's website and sign in. Navigate to the transaction list, and if it allows you, filter the list to only include the transactions you need.
  2. Search for a Download or Export button. If there are multiple formats available, select CSV. If you couldn't filter the list previously, this file can be opened in a spreadsheet software to exclude unneeded transactions.
  3. Back in QuickBooks Online, navigate again to the Banking tab. On the Update drop-down, select File Upload.
  4. Click Browse and select the CSV file you downloaded. Follow the on-screen instructions to import your transactions.
