How can I permanently delete a previously deleted transaction that has reappeared?

The transaction is a deposit. I deleted it a few days ago and have tried to delete it since, but it has returned.

Re: How can I permanently delete a previously deleted transaction that has reappeared?

Hello again, @billing30.

I appreciate you following up with me and providing that clarification.

To ensure that I'm on the same page, was a transaction deleted from the register and it returned to For Review? If so, this is how the system will handle deleted transactions. To remove a transaction from For Review, you will need to exclude it. Here's how:

  1. Select Banking and choose Banking.
  2. Place a check-mark in the box next to the transaction.
  3. Click Batch actions.
  4. Choose Exclude Selected.

For additional information on managing downloaded bank transactions, I recommend the following article: Exclude expenses from downloaded bank transactions.

Please let me know if that clears things up or if you should have questions. Take care.

Re: How can I permanently delete a previously deleted transaction that has reappeared?

Thanks for reaching out to the Community, @billing30. I'm here to help with deleting the deposit.

Generally, a transaction shouldn't return after it has been deleted. As a result of this, I suggest checking the audit history to see how it was added. Here's how:

  1. Open up the deposit.
  2. Click More at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Select Audit history.

Re: How can I permanently delete a previously deleted transaction that has reappeared?

Hi, David,

Thank you for suggesting that I check the audit log. I tried that. it didn't show that I deleted it, just that I had added it to the reviewed list, so I opened the transaction and tried to delete it again. It just moved to the for review list.

I wonder if the trouble is related to importing transactions from my bank. Maybe QBO imports the transaction again and again because I deleted it from the system.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Re: How can I permanently delete a previously deleted transaction that has reappeared?

Hi!

Yes, the case that you described fit this transaction, so I excluded it. I read the article, too, to ensure that I had completed all the steps for excluding it.

Thank you very much for your help!
