Hello there, @Twin Oaks Electric.
You can get the sample file of the Products and Services on the Import page to enter the Type of the item.
This is how the sample file looks like:
If you have mapped the data correctly but still you're not able to use the Inventory as an item, you can try to use an incognito browser and try importing it again. Over time the data in your browser becomes obsolete and may cause any program to show this odd behavior. This is done to fix any data-related issues in your browser. If you have successfully assigned Inventory on the item when importing, you can go back to the regular browser and clear the cache. An alternative way is to use another supported browser.
However, if it still didn't fix the issue, you can import it as Non-inventory and edit it manually in the Sales menu; Products and Services tab as an Inventory item. I've added a screenshot for your reference below:
You can also check the details of your products and services bu running a Product/Service List Report in the future. Here's an article to help you how to track the specific aspects of the report: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.
Please don't hesitate to tag my name in the comment section to let me know if you have other questions about QuickBooks. Take care always.
Which QBO Plan do you have? QBO Simple Start, Plus or else?

I have QBO Plus
I tried a different browser and that seemed to work. Everything is now in my QBO as needed! Thank you!
