Yes, it's possible that the re-link account won't show as a new one in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @dana28. Let me share further details about this.

When you unlinked a bank account from online banking, your existing data won't be affected. This is because QuickBooks just stops downloading new transactions. Then, it'll keep the ones you've already categorized and removes those that still need to be reviewed.

On the other hand, it isn't recommended to disconnect an account if you see a bank connection error. This may download duplicate transactions when you reconnect it. You can follow the steps provided in this article in case it happens: Fix online banking errors.

Once you're ready to re-link, kindly refer to this article for the step-by-step guide: Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Online. After you reconnect, the system will automatically download your latest transactions. All you have to do is review or match them to the existing entries in QuickBooks. You can check out this article for the detailed steps: Categorize online bank transactions. It also includes instructions about excluding personal or duplicate transactions.

Additionally, I'd recommend reconciling your accounts every month. This will effectively monitor the growth of your business as well as your income and expenses. You can refer to this article for the step-by-step guide: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online. It also contains information about editing completed reconciliations.
