IIF Import errors - QB Desktop Pro 2019

I've been using the import IIF function with QB Desktop 2018 without issue. Since moving to Desktop Pro 2019 it's throwing out errors when I try to import the IIF file, even though the file is structured exactly the same as I used before.

The errors look like this

; [ERROR] REVENUE QB is not a valid IIF record type [15100]

 IIF file.JPG

My IIF file is structured like this (the amounts are balanced in the file)....

Please help!

thanks

just at first glance the numbers do not match in the amount column, debits and credits have to add to the same total in a journal entry

Thanks, but the amounts are balanced. That's not the issue. I've even tried files that I've used before (and worked) and they are also throwing errors.

maybe I am seeing it wrong, but 164697 is not equal to 164696.8

RE: REVENUE QB is not a valid IIF record type [15100]

Well, there's no REVENUE or REVENUE QB in your screenshot. Is there more to the file?

In any case you can likely still import the file. See our recommendations at  BRC - QuickBooks 2019 IIF Import Changes and Recommendations

Your TRNS row has no amount.  It should at least have a 0.00 for an amount.

This is likely one of the new issues with the IIF import in QB 2019.

To work around it, see BRC - QuickBooks 2019 IIF Import Changes and Recommendations

Thank you so much!  After at least 5 hours of being on hold and talking to both Online Payroll and QB desktop pro support, they can't agree on whose problem it is.  Your workaround works great.  I sure hope they get this fixed.  Intuit sucks.

RE: After at least 5 hours of being on hold and talking to both Online Payroll and QB desktop pro support, they can't agree on whose problem it is.

Well, two things are true:

1. The IIF file is somewhat odd in that it does not have an amount  Amount field.  BUT, that is allowed, for example for a memo only row.  That's is essentially what this appears to be.  Still it should be allowed and should have been tested.

2. QB 2019 created this issue by getting super-picky for no reason.  In this case, for example, it is perfectly reasonable to assume blank means 0.  QB makes similar assumptions like this all the time in your company file, where for example an invoice a Qty of "" is the same as 1.

I have changed the file association to Excel.

Every line has an error.   It reads:  Is not a valid IIF record type [15100]

Yep, your work around worked just fine.  Thanks!
