Importing Credit Card Transactions

Is there a way to see the memo line in the "For Review" screen?  I would like to see which credit card was used for the purchase.

Importing Credit Card Transactions

Hi there, toni_aleris.

I'm here to provide an overview about online banking on both automatic download and importing process in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

When your bank account is connected, the Memo or Bank Detail will automatically be downloaded. You'll just have to mark the Show bank details checkbox so that the page will display its column.

Let me show you how:

  1. Go to Banking.
  2. In the For Review tab, click on the Gear icon.
  3. Under Transaction details, mark the Show bank details and Copy bank detail to memo checkboxes.
  4. Click one of the transactions, so you'll know what I'm referring to.

I've attached some screenshots below for your reference.

The same goes for importing, just add the Description column on the CSV file.

You can check out these articles for your reference:

That should do it. Leave a comment below if you have further questions about the process. I'll get them answered for you.

Thanks for joining this thread, @enote.

Yes, there’s a way for the Memo to show in the Bank Feeds Center. Let’s select the box for Show Bank Memo to display the column.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu at the top and select Bank Feeds to choose the Bank Feeds Center.

  2. This will take you to the list of accounts connected online.
  3. From there, click your financial institution to view the Account Information screen.

  4. Tap the Transaction List button to access the New to QuickBooks window.

  5. Mark the box for Show Bank Memo under the Tell QuickBooks how to handle these bank transactions section.

As you can see in your answer, "Show Bank Memo" just shows a column that is completely blank. The useful information is in the "Downloaded As" column but that column is not being copied over to the "Memo field" and "Downloaded As" is lost once the transactions are imported.

Good day, enote.

Thanks for coming back to the Community.

When importing a Memo line from the bank to QuickBooks Desktop and it doesn't show it in the Bank Feeds. You can manually copy it over to the memo field.

Please know that the memo line we received is from the bank and not all banks provide the Bank Memo details.

In the meantime, I'd recommend contacting our Customer Support Team. Through this, they can check your account details which concerns the PII and other sensitive information that we suggest to not post it publicly.

Here's how:

1. Go to the Help menu.
2. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help or press F1 on your keyboard.
3. On the search bar, enter your description of your concern.
4. Click Contact us.
5. From What can we help you with? page, enter your concern then click the Search button.
6. Hit Start a Message button.

To know more about ways to import and exporting in QuickBooks Desktop, please check out this article for future reference: Import and export data in QuickBooks Desktop.

Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help. I'm always around to assist you. Have a good day!
