Printing Deposit slips

The top part of the deposit slip will not print but the bottom with the summary will. How can I get the deposit top section of the slip to print. This changed with different updated operating system. Thanks

Let's perform some steps to resolve this, matthewsdancer.

You can go back to the deposit page and click Print. Then, please make sure to select the Deposit slip and deposit summary in the Print Deposit window. Once done, click the Preview button in the Print Deposit Slips window.

If you're still unable to print the deposit slip, let's perform a few troubleshooting steps to resolve this. Please see the troubleshooting of PDF and print problems for the detailed steps.

Please see the screenshots I've provided below:

Let me know if you're able to print the deposit slip. Have a good one!

Thank you for your help. All that you suggested I found and performed yesterday with the deposit slip portion of the page still not printing. By the way, the top deposit slip listing also does not appear in the print preview but the bottom summary does.
Thanks again for any help in this!

Thanks for the update, matthewsdancer.

I have checked our list of reported issues and didn't find any similar concern as yours. Let's try to troubleshoot problems when printing transactions from QuickBooks Desktop to resolve this.

Make sure that QuickBooks is updated to the latest release. Then, run the PDF and Print Repair Tool before performing other troubleshooting steps. Please refer to this guide article for more details: Troubleshoot PDF and Print problems with QuickBooks Desktop

I suddenly have this same problem.  Followed all suggestions and the top of the deposit no longer prints (does not appear in preview either)

Hi there, @mkmccutcheon.

I appreciate you performing the suggestions shared by my colleagues above to fix the issue. Let's perform other troubleshooting steps so you can print deposit slips.

Before we start, have you perform all the troubleshooting steps provided from the article? If you haven't yet, I'd suggest doing it so.

To get started, let's verify the printer if it's the correct one. Here's how:

  1. In your QuickBooks Desktop, go to the File menu.
  2. Select Printer Setup.
  3. From the Form Name drop-down, choose Deposits.
  4. Select the Printer from the Printer name drop-down.
  5. Click OK.

If your printer's name doesn't show on the list, you'll need to correct the setup within your computer's Printer Setup. For the detailed instructions, just click the Help button from the Printer setup window.

Once done, go back and try to print deposit slip again to double-check.

If it's still not printing, feel free to check out this article for additional troubleshooting steps: Resolve Printing Issues.

In case you want to print a batch of forms in QuickBooks Desktop, you can read this article for your future reference: Batch Print Forms.

I've tried all your suggestions multiple times. Still nothing printing on the top of the deposit slip, only the summary on the bottom.  Does not matter which printer I use.  This has worked fine for years.  Could changing from WIndows 7 to Windows 10 have caused the problem

Hi mkmccutcheon,

Windows 10 is one of the lists of Operating Systems compatible with QuickBooks. I have more steps we can try to get the top of the deposit slip printed. Let me guide you how.

Let's run the verify/rebuild utility tool to check if its data related issue.

  1. Click Window at the top menu then Close All.
  2. Verify Data. Choose File then Utilities. Select Verify Data.

    If you see:

    • "QuickBooks detected no problems with your data," no further action is needed.
    • A specific error message, there may already be an article for it. Try searching for it in our QuickBooks Desktop support site for specific instructions.
    • "Your data has lost integrity," indicates there is data damage in the file.  Continue to the steps below to Rebuild Data to correct the problem.

 To rebuild:

  1. Go to the File menu, then select Utilities and Rebuild Data.
  2. On the QuickBooks Information window, select Ok. Follow the prompts to save a backup. (Note: Your computer may display QuickBooks is not responding. However, as long as you can see your mouse cursor move, Rebuild is still ongoing. Wait for it to complete).
  3. Clik OK when you see Rebuild has completed.

Once done, attempt to print a deposit slip again.

If you're getting the same results, perform a reinstall Quickbooks for Windows using a clean install.

Additionally, you can visit our page for some helpful articles for QuickBooks Desktop for your reference.

I have run the verify/rebuild utility without any issue.

I have performed a clean install of Windows.

I still have the same problem of the top of the deposit slip not printing.  I have the same issue with multiple companies.

This is frustrating since I've been printing deposit slips for years without a problem.  What else can I do to fix this?

Hello there, kellyschaub.

Let me provide another troubleshooting steps that you can perform. Let's close and reopen QuickBooks. Then, let's run the reboot.bat file. Here's how:

  1. Right click the QuickBooks icon on your desktop, and select Properties.
  2. Click on Open file location.
  3. Type "reboot.bat" in the search field (at the upper right corner).
  4. Right click the reboot.bat file and choose Run as Administrator. The file may display as reboot.bat or reboot.
  5. When the reboot.bat file utility has completed, the window will close.

Then, make sure to reboot your computer for the changes to take effect. From there, you can print the Deposit slip.

If you get the same thing, I suggest contacting our Phone Support Team so they can further investigate the issue. Please refer to the steps given by my colleague above.

You can always drop by the Community if you need more help.

I am trying Catherine's suggestion below with the reboot.bat. I will let you know if it works. Do not bother to call customer service because they believe that you need to realign your deposit slip. Sigh!!!

Greetings,

I continued to have this problem for months since April 2019 where none of the troubleshooting solutions worked. Then after one of the many windows updates, it is now printing both top and bottom.  It started back printing I believe a few months back as I just started using another computer. I think it was a windows bug.

I have 3 bank accounts I deposit to and never had a problem printing deposit slips. My deposit slip has always printed the individual payment amounts of each check with the total at the bottom with the # of checks in the deposit. As of today, 1 bank account prints as always with the breakdown on the deposit slip & summary. The other 2 bank accounts print the total deposit amount and 1 for the number of checks when I have numerous checks in the deposit. The summary prints all the checks as usual.

Nothing has changed other than I upgraded the QB file to QB Pro 2023.

Thanks for joining the Community and getting involved with this thread, FrustratedinCT1.

Since your deposit slips aren't displaying as they normally would when printed, I'd recommend performing Joyce_P's recommended troubleshooting steps.

Here's how:

  1. From the Deposit page, click Print.
  2. Be sure to choose Deposit slip and deposit summary in your Print Deposit window.
  3. Hit OK.
  4. On the Print Deposit Slips screen, select Preview.

If your preview still doesn't look proper, you'll want to perform the troubleshooting steps from our Fix PDF and Print problems article.

Please feel welcome to send a reply if there's any additional questions. Have an awesome day!
