QB 2019, Duplicated Banking Statement Transactions, How do I remove statement or individual transactions?
I am using QB 2019 Desk Top. I am trying to bring my bookkeeping up to date and audit my accounts. I have found that for several months the downloaded credit card statements have created duplicate transactions (one will be check as if reconciled and the other has a lightning bolt by it in the register view) and it creates a duplicate entry in my bank register for a payment which adversely affects my balance.
Can someone tell me how to delete statement and start over, or delete the individual transactions. Do I have something set wrong that is creating this problem or am I doing something wrong in bring the data in.
I am a contractor, a one man show and I am not a proficient user of QB. I need to get everything in my system up to date and cleaned up. Then I want to do something to archive the older years and just have them available to dig up if ever needed for reference and then I am thinking about switching over to QB Online.
I am in a crunch because I have to file taxes by the 15th.

Hi Hugh McG,
Let's go to the bank register and delete the duplicate transactions one by one.
Go to the Lists menu.
Click Chart of Accounts to select a bank account by clicking twice.
Double click those transactions with lightning bolts.
Then, press CTRL+D to delete.
Click OK to confirm deleting the transaction.
It's possible that you've downloaded the entire statement via web connect to QuickBooks. This is why you're having duplicate transactions. To avoid this from happening, you'll have to check the date range before importing them.
On the other hand, we are not able to archive a part of the company file. You can still keep the company file as your reference. Though, you can start using QuickBooks Online with the new fiscal year.
Lastly, I'd suggest reaching out to your accountant to help you submit your taxes on time.
I'll be right here if you need more help with QuickBooks Desktop.
