QB Desktop Pro Bank Feed

I just started using the bank feed about 2 weeks ago. When I pulled in the data for the first time it pulled over previous reconciled transactions. I should of hit ignore on all of those transactions immediately. However, I did not and inadvertently ended up adding duplicate debits and credits into the check register. I was able to recognize the duplicate credits, but the debits have not been as easy to correct. Is there a report that can show me all transactions added into the check register from the bank feed since going live? I have identified several by the lightening bolt beside the transactions, but my EOM balances are still not correct when compared to the prior EOM balances noted at time of reconciliation. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Let's sort this out, @Susan_MHS.

You can run the QuickReport option to view all the transaction that was added into your check register from the bank feeds. Let me guide you how:

  1. Select Lists from the top menu bar.
  2. Choose Chart of Accounts.
  3. Right-click on the account you want to view and select QuickReport.
  4. Click the Customize Report.
  5. In the COLUMNS under Display search Debit and Credit then put a checkmark.
  6. Then filter the necessary details.
  7. Click OK.

You can also check this link for more details in customizing reports in your QBDT software.

Once done, you can memorize the report to save its current settings. This way, you won’t have to customize it in case you need to run it again in the future.

Also, I've included this article in case you notice any odd behavior in your master names list, Item list, or Chart of Accounts: Re-sort lists in QuickBooks Desktop.

When running this report, it shows items that I know were not pulled in from the bank feed, but manually entered as debits and credits. If I leave the date range open, it pulls in several years worth of transactions. I only started using the feed mid-Nov so I would of expected to only see transactions for a narrow time frame. It look liked when I pull over information the first time, data was pulled as far back as Aug 2020.  When I narrow the date range to the start date, it appears that only gives me the bank transactions occurring those dates. I need information on debit/credits entered into the register from the feed regardless of the date they hit the bank.

I'm here to help check why EOM balances aren't correct, Susan_MHS.

The Quickreport of the affected bank account provides information on debits or credits that were already added to your register.

From there, you can delete duplicate transactions to correct the balance. You can find transactions causing the discrepancy by pulling this report:

Reconcile Discrepancy report

  1. Go to the Reports menu, then select Banking, then Reconciliation Discrepancy.
  2. Choose the appropriate Account, then select OK. You now have a list of transactions that were changed since the last reconciliation. Use this report to identify the transaction/s causing the issue.
  3. If you find a discrepancy, note the transaction date and the Entered/Last Modified, which will tell you when the change occurred.

You can also refer to this page to know what other reports you need and steps need to correct the balance: Fix beginning balance issues in QuickBooks Desktop.

Let me know how this goes by commenting below. I'll be around until you're able to fix the balance on your bank account.

Hi,

qb desktop pro 2021. Recently began using bank feeds to assist in matching and reconciliation of checking account. What are the basic steps to weekly match the feeds window then after months end reconcile the statement? Example- manually check split item in the register, then ignore it in feed- items reappeared in feed after Reconciled in qb. How many times to use match button in recon window during a month?
I just need the basic, 1,2,3... steps to avoid some of the problems I'm creating.

Hello @Pr60,

You're on the right track, you'll only need to match transactions once per period within how many days you wish to review them.

In the same manner, adding and match your downloaded back transactions to your existing entries is different depending on the mode of your bank feeds center.

To do so, you can read this article to learn more about the modes and steps: Add and match Bank Feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.

On top of that, here's a compilation of articles helpful for the steps while working with your bank account in QuickBooks: Banking with QuickBooks Desktop.

If there's anything else that I can help you with, please let me know in the comments below. I'll be here to lend a hand.
