Recording transfers from checking banking account to parent CC banking account does not allow for "find match" afterwards.

Consider two banking accounts synced to qbo, one checking account and the second a parent CC account with several sub account card holders. If you make a payment from checking to CC (outside of qbo), in the banking tab you will then need to match the payment on the checking side to the CC parent because you do not know which card used it. It would even make sense to create a rule for this since it is always the same bank details. Once you record the transfer, you then have to match it one the CC side per the QBO documentation. However, since the transfer was recorded vs the parent account and the payment appears in one of the sub CC accounts, "find match" fins nothing. This needs to be fixed so find match will look in parent accounts as well as sub accounts for CC payments with multiple cards.

I'm glad to have you here in the Community, @Noxious.

The Match option is used to find similar transactions between the one you entered and downloaded from the bank. This is to avoid any duplicates hence needs also to use the same bank account.

You'll need to exclude the transfer to the payment in the different accounts to fix this.

However, I recognize your need for this feature, and I'm taking note of it so I can pass it along here on my end.

While there's no definite time on when this will become available, you'll want to learn how to match and categorize bank transactions in QuickBooks Online through checking this article: Match and Categorize bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Recording transfers from checking banking account to parent CC banking account does not allow for "find match" afterwards.

Hi John,

When I set up the connection to my bank, it automatically connected to my Corporate Card and to my Corporate Account.  This has been a brain freeze for me, as the two accounts are in conflict--some user error, too as I might transfer funds to one or the other.  It looks like making the card account a sub-account of the parent Corporate Account will solve much of this.  Should I assume that any payments toward this account, transfers, etc. should be to the corporate account?  With card transactions accurately recorded under the card?

Thank you,

MM

Hi, @MillyG5280,

I'm glad to see you here in the Community.

If the credit card and the bank account you use to pay the credit card expense are connected, you can enter the payment by transferring the record.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking tab, then select Banking.
  2. Select the account you need to transfer the payment from.
  3. Click the transaction, then select the Record transfer radio button.
  4. Select the Transfer account drop-down menu, then click the account you want to send the transaction to.
  5. Click Record transfer.

Once you're done with the transfer of the transaction, you can match it with the new account.

  1. Select the Recognized tab and locate the transaction.
  2. Under the Action column, select Match.

Also, you can check this article to learn more about recording payments: Record credit card payments.

I’m just a post away if you need anything else. Have an awesome day.
