Re: What should I do to get the bank to sync again with qbo if my bank changed their name?

Good day, Tom.

I'd make sure you'll be able to sync your bank account in QuickBooks Online.

If the bank has changes of information, you'll have to update it in your Banking so the changes will be updated in QuickBooks.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Banking.
  2. Select the bank that you want to update.
  3. Click the Update button.

If the same thing happens, you can disconnect your bank account from the Banking and connect it again. This is to refresh your bank account.

Before doing so, you can disconnect your bank account first.

Here are the steps on how to disconnect:

  1. Go to Banking.
  2. Select the bank that you want to deactivate and click the Edit (pencil) icon.
  3. Click Edit account info.
  4. Select Disconnect this account on save check box.
  5. Click Save & Close.

Once done, you can proceed in deactivating it. Just follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Accounting.
  2. Look for your bank account and click the drop-down arrow in the Action column.
  3. Select Delete.
  4. Click Yes.

Then, you can either reactivate it or create a new account.

Here are the steps in reactivating your account:

  1. Go to Accounting.
  2. Click the Gear icon on the Accounting page.
  3. Click Include Inactive.
  4. Find the account and click Make active.

Lastly, you can reconnect your bank account to QuickBooks Online.

Re: What should I do to get the bank to sync again with qbo if my bank changed their name?

Hi Joyce_P,

That post was awesome, it worked for me, just one deviation: I didn't have the "delete" at the dropdown menu, so I selected "deactivate", then everything else worked seamlessly. I even could use the custom date that the bank stopped updating for downloading the transactions, so I would avoid duplicate entries.

Thank you again.

Thanks for the compliments, @Tom-E.

I'll let my colleague know you came back to this post and sent your thanks.

Yes, you've selected the correct option! The Action column drop-down has the Make Inactive option to help you inactive unwanted accounts in QBO.

Meanwhile, I'm also adding some more references for QBO users. It provides the helpful articles, tutorials, and current updates.

Take care always and have a wonderful day!
