Join nowWhen I enable the Multi Currencies function, my Home Currency list is empty and cannot find any currency when I click the "View more currency" button.
Hello there @willswan,
Glad you reached out to us here in the Community space. Let me help set your home currency in your QuickBooks Desktop.
Once the Multi-currency feature is turned on, you should be able to select a home currency from the list. Since the program doesn’t show any currency when clicking the View more currency button, let’s run a repair on your QuickBooks Desktop.
The repair will help your software fix any program-related issues or errors. You may check out this article for the detailed steps on how to run the repair: https://community.intuit.com/articles/1762796.
Once done, you can go back to the Preferences menu and select your home currency. If the same issue persists even after running the repair on your QuickBooks, I'd recommend giving our phone support a call for further assistance. Here's how you can reach them:
1. Go to: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.
2. Choose your QuickBooks Product.
3. Select your QuickBooks version.
4. On the Contact Us page, click a topic.
5. Click on the Get Phone Number button to see the support number.
Stay in touch with us if you have any other questions. Have a great day!

They're updating the article that's why you're unable to open it, FRL. Let me provide you with the steps for repairing QuickBooks instead.
Before doing the process, let's make sure to create a backup copy of your file to avoid data loss.
Once done, you can already repair QuickBooks. Here's how:
After repairing, check if you can select your home currency.
You can also check this reference about setting up and using Multicurrency.
If something arises, please don't hesitate to get back to us.
I did exactly as what you said, but the currency list still does not show up.
Hi Colin Yang,
Try showing the list of inactive currencies to see if they are there.
If the currencies are there, click the X marks next to that ones that you want to activate. Then, remove the check mark in the Include Inactive checkbox again to hide the ones you don't need.
If you still can't find them, please contact our phone or chat support to check this further. You can share your screen, so they can gather more data on this behavior.
By the way, you can learn more about the currency feature in QuickBooks by searching it in the Help window. Just press F1 to open it.
Please let me know if you have other questions in mind.
I encounter the some problem, how can you solve it?
I encounter the same problem, how can you solve it?
Hi, Donald Yau.
Have you already tried the steps provided above such as uninstalling and reinstalling the software?
If you did and still have empty currency list, I'd recommend reporting this issue to our engineers. To do so, you can reach out to our phone support team. They'll be the ones to escalate an investigation.
Here's how to reach them:
You're always welcome to drop by again if you have other concerns.
Thanks, I have already contacted them and tried lots of solutions including reinstalling the software, verifying company files and changing the region and location to ENG(US). However, the problem still exists.
Please find my attached extracted picture. As I am using Quickbook desktop premier 2019, why I can't find the currency list and only show " Multi Currency Feature is available in PRO and above"?
I surely purchased a version which contains multicurrency function.
Thanks for the additional details, Donald Yau.
Yes, you're correct. The Multi-Currency feature is available in your version. Since the same thing happened after doing the steps above, let's reinstall your application using a Super Clean install.
This type of troubleshooting will completely remove your QuickBooks application. Reinstalling it using the Super Clean install will fix any data issues such as the Multi-currency feature.
For the detailed steps on how to do this, please check this article: Reinstall using a Super Clean install.
Once everything's fine, you can take a look at this article on how to turn on Multi-Currency: Set up and use Multi-currency.
Drop me a line on how these steps help you select a home currency. I'll make sure you're able to choose one.
its not working.\
do you have another other option?
Please advise.
How about open the sample file or create a new one? If the the problem still persists, install the trial license of Pro 2020 to isolate the issue. Just my 2 cents.
Above is the problem we encountered the same. No Home Currency -> Empty field -> Cannot save -> Cannot turn on multi-currency.
It seems Quickbooks does not support unicode well and there are still some area using non-unicode. So like us in Hong Kong, our Windows settings generally have Language for non unicode program set to Chinese other than English. The drop down list cannot catch up and so empty. Once we switch the setting to English, we can choose Home Currency and turn on the feature. With the showing of currency list, we can switch back the setting back to non-English languange.
In fact when we try to contact the agent in Hong Kong, they need us to pay for USD100 for training course before helping us to resolve the problem. Very bad!!
The company in Hong Kong who sells Quickbooks software. They claim they are Quickbooks proAdvisor and the agent. I just bought Quickbooks pro 2020 (multi-user) from them.
When I encountered the problem, I tried to ask them if there was some bugs on the latest version. They need us to pay for HKD800 (about USD103) training course before give us support.
Very disappointed.
It's important for us that you're able to save and turn on multicurrency, @JPCL.
At this time, Unicode characters is unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop. However, we have the US, UK, and Canadian versions for QuickBooks Desktop. Changing the language is important. The setup will only be compliant to the country version's needs.
You may have the QuickBooks Desktop US version in which the coding of the software will be in the English version. Changing the language causes some features not to respond properly.
I’ll take note of your feedback and send them to our product development team. They can consider this option added in the future update.
If you have any other questions, just tag me directly. I'm here to help.
Is the name of company "q******o" and you have talked to Daniel?
Yes the name. I did not know Daniel but a lady called Monica talked to me. Actually she wrote me a long email stressing nothing wrong with the software. Only I have interpreted wrongly the status and function of how the program runs. I need to attend training course in order to solve the problem. Extract of her reply below (sorry it is written in chinese).
I am sorry I couldn't read those words. LOL
Yes they are a mere reseller like we do and not part of Intuit's. You may utilize this community to get any advise for free.
If you are interested to self-learning QBD, we may share a 600s pages PDF manual guide for QuickBooks 2016. Most of the contents remain relevant for recent versions. We have yet to find any user guide like that for the last 4 years. Send your private message to us and we will share the download link.
