When I go to GEAR icon and under Tools choose IMPORT DATA, there is no option to IMPORT SALES RECEIPTS ... why? I want to IMPORT SALES RECEIPTS, not INVOICES.

Utilize the trial period of TP Importer to do so.

I'll add some information to Fiat Lux - ASIA's suggestion, @ricm104. 

Currently, the feature to import sales receipts to QuickBooks Online (QBO) is unavailable. That's why you're unable to see this option on the Import Data page from the Gear icon.

I can see the importance of having this functionality as it helps you bring in your sales data to the program. With this, I've got an alternative method you can perform to achieve your goal. 

I'd suggest looking for a third-party app that can integrate with QBO. This way, you'll have an option to import your sales receipt to QBO. Just go to the Apps menu or through the external QuickBooks App Center. I'll guide you how. 

1. Go to this link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/app/apps/home/.
2. Choose the US flag in the Country drop-down.
3. Enter Import Sales Receipts in the Search box. 
4. Select the app to open its profile. View the other apps by selecting them. 
5. Choose the right app for your business. 
6. Click Get app now. 

The screenshot below shows you the first three steps.

Once imported, you can use the sales receipt template each time you create the transaction. Then, click the Save and send button to email the form. That way, your customer will have a record on their end. For more information, check out this article: Creating And Sending Sales Receipts.
