Reconciliation

I paid a vendor with a check in the amount of $127.50. The bank cleared the check in the amount of $1.27. So, there's a $126.23 discrepancy when I go to reconcile my account. How do I go about navigating this issue so I can continue reconciling while waiting for the bank to fix the mistake.

Reconciliation

I’ve got you covered, @devincook1220.

Thanks for reaching out in the Community. Let me provide information so you can still continue reconciling your account in QuickBooks Accountant Online.

Ideally, you’ll need to wait for your bank to fix the incorrect amount. However, if you want to reconcile now, you’ll want to exclude the downloaded bank transaction. And then manually clear the status of the entry.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Banking or Transactions menu.
  2. Locate and select the event amounting to 1.27.
  3. Click Exclude.

Once the financial institution settled the transaction, then you can modify the completed reconciliation. You can refer to this article for complete instructions to enter an adjusting entry in QuickBooks.

I’ve also attached a detailed guide here to reconcile your account in QuickBooks Desktop. It has several articles that can help ensure everything is matched and error-free.

Don’t hesitate to reach out again if you have other banking or reconciliation concerns. I’m always here to help you out. Take care!
