Reconciling sales tax payable

My client used to be able to reconcile her sales tax payable account - when she used QB's 2008.  She upgraded to QB's 2011 and that functionality was no longer available.  We have been waiting/hoping for it to come back.  She is currently on QB's 2014.  She can go into the reconcile screen for the sales tax payable account and check off the cleared items.  She can reconcile and get the difference to zero, but when she hits "reconcile now", a message pops up saying "you cannot reconcile this type of account".  Why does it allow her to go through the reconciliation at all?  Is there a way to turn on a reconcile feature for a current liability account?

Reconciling sales tax payable

You can use the reports in sales tax and the sales tax module to figure it out what is due,  but you are correct, you cannot reconcile it (if you are using the default acct. that is the sales tax detail type).  She can run a trial balance.  Look at that acct. and see the balance at the end of the month and verify it with the payment amount.  I like to lock out the month with a password, especially if there are several users with access to the customer transactions.  That way once sales tax is paid, no one can make changes to the closed period (without the password).
