Record as transfer asks to enter exchange rate or original foreign currency amount for a transfer between same home currency accounts

I just enabled the multi currency option and now I can't record a transfer transaction between two of my home currency bank accounts (existed before I switched). It shows a confusing error message "Please enter the exchange rate or the original foreign currency amount." (see the attachment). There was no currency exchange for this transfer - just transfer USD from one account to another USD account. Just to confirm, I open them in my chart of accounts and both were shown as USD.

Record as transfer asks to enter exchange rate or original foreign currency amount for a transfer between same home currency accounts

Hello there, @gorban. I'm here to help you fix the issue in recording your transfer transaction in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Since there's no o currency exchange for that transfer, we can perform the basic troubleshooting steps to sort out the error message you've encountered. This may be caused by stored cookies and cache, that enable you to from accessing your transactions.

  1. Restart your browser.
  2. Log in to your QuickBooks company file in an incognito or private browser and try to see if you can select the liability account. You can use these keyboard shortcuts to launch a new private window:

Google Chrome: press Ctrl Shift N

Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl Shift P

Safari: press Command Shift N

If it works, you can return to your regular browser and clear your browser's cache. Then you may see if it fixes the problem and gets started on the tasks at hand. However, if the incognito window didn't work, you can use other supported browsers.

Please refer to this article for more details: Troubleshooting browser problems.

Also, you have the option to manually record the transfer. To do so, here's how:

  1. Select + New.
  2. Select Transfer.
  3. From the Transfer Funds From the dropdown list, select the bank account that the money is coming from.
  4. From the Transfer Funds To dropdown list, select the bank account that the money is going to.
  5. In the Transfer Amount field, enter the amount being transferred.
  6. Edit the Date field.
  7. Enter a description of the transfer in the Memo field (optional).
  8. Select Save and close or Save and new to complete the transfer.
  9. Select Yes if you double-checked the date.
