i had a payment returned by my bank my bank because it got sent for checking, but my account is and always has been a savings account. Trying to figure out how to get it fixed, so use the link in the email about the return to chat and the person (Josh) asked for my SSN and date of birth right away- never had that happen. I want to make sure that you're contacting the correct support team, Rutager.

We're vigilant to ensure our products and services are only used by entities engaging in legitimate business activities. We verify your business name, phone number, and the primary contact on the file when you contact us through chat or call.

We don't ask for the SSN and date of birth during the verification process. To ensure that you have the Intuit Live Support Team, please contact them inside QuickBooks.

Let me show you how:

  1. Open QuickBooks, then go to Help and select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Enter your concern and select Let's talk, then choose a way to connect with us.

Regarding the payment sent to the checking account, you need to check where customer payments are deposited. Someone may have accidentally change the account through the Merchant Service page.

To change it, please follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to the Merchant Service Center.
  2. Select the Account menu and then Account Profile.
  3. Verify the account from the Deposit Account Information section.
  4. If it's showing your checking account, click Edit.
  5. Fill out the New bank account section (your savings account).
  6. enter the Routing Number and Account Number.
  7. Enter it again in the Confirm Account Number field.
  8. Make sure the name in the Account Holder/Doing Business As field matches the bank account owner's name exactly.
  9. Select an option from the Reason for this account change drop-down, then click Submit.

Keep in mind, this doesn't change the way QuickBooks categorizes your transactions. It changes the account QuickBooks puts payments into.

If you change your account after 3 PM PST, we'll start using your new account the following business day. If you already processed payments before 3 PM PST that day, we'll put them in your old account.

I'm adding this link for future guide: Automatically record QuickBooks Payments bank deposits.

Let me know if you have follow-up questions about the payments. I'm always right here to help you.

Scammer on intuit chat function?

Hello,

I apologize for not responding right away- always annoying when someone joins a forum, asks a question, gets an answer and then doesn’t bother to report back! My world was full of minor hassles last week including my home phone losing dial tone and of course that was the phone that is listed for the second verification method, so I couldn’t get a code until they finally restored service today.

Thanks for your detailed information Mary, it was very helpful and I got in and changed it to savings- still have no clue how it got changed to checking as I am the only one in the company, only one with account access and only one in my house besides the dog and I’ve never seen him type!

I used the link to get to chat that was in the email from [email address removed]; it seemed legit until he asked for my SSN and then date of birth- I responded quickly and not politely.

I did take two screen shots, hopefully I post the one without my swearing...

Scammer on intuit chat function?

Thank you for getting back to me, Rutager.

The changes made to the bank account is already beyond my control and I'm unable to pull up your Merchant Service account.

You can try contacting the support via phone call and check with them about the verification process. Check out this link to learn how to create and record invoices: Get started with customer transaction workflows in QuickBooks Desktop.

On the other hand, you can continue receiving payments from customers. Here's how to get a call:

  1. Go to Help, then select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Give a brief description of your issue, then select Let's talk and then choose a way to connect.

Keep in touch with me if there are other things you need by commenting below. I'm always right here to help you.

Scammer on intuit chat function?

The same thing happened to me- I went to 'Help' through Quickbooks, and used the chat function. The person there said that they couldn't help me, and shared another link that I should go to (to talk to a different team).

I clicked on that link and the person on the other end (first named Josh, then Aubrey) asked for my DOB, SSN, and bank account number! Either there are bad actors inside the intuit customer service department, or there is some other issue, but Intuit should look into this immediately.

This is a HUGE security flaw. They are using the intuit.com domain, so it all looks legit, but they are asking for information that should not be asked for. Intuit should do something about this immediately.
