Some of my product and services accounts are marked as "taxable", I want them to be "non-taxable". If I change this now will this affect past transactions?

It won't affect previous transactions, accounting171.

QuickBooks doesn't have a retroactive effect so the transactions you created for those items won't be affected. Let me walk through how to change an item from taxable to non-taxable:

  1. From the Sales menu, select Product and Services
  2. Locate the item you'll want to change.
  3. Click Edit under the ACTION column.
  4. Under the Sales tax category, select Nontaxable
  5. Click Save and close

You can refer to the Product/Service List report to get a list of your items that have been marked Taxable and Non-taxable. Here's  how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Type in the  search field Product/Service List.
  3. Select the report.
  4. Click the Customize button and select Rows/Columns.
  5. Select the Taxable box and then hit Run Report

Please let me know if you have other questions. Have a great day!
