The reference number isn't showing up on my bank reconciliation screen even though it is selected in the "Edit columns" list

Does it matter which program I use for Quickbooks Online?  I'm in Chrome.

The reference number isn't showing up on my bank reconciliation screen even though it is selected in the "Edit columns" list

Hello, cflinn234.

I've checked and replicated it on my end and was able to view the reference number in the Bank Register.

In this scenario, It's possible this might be caused by a corrupted file cache stored in your browser, that's why the reference number is not showing in the Bank register.

We can do some troubleshooting steps to rule this out. Let's open your QuickBooks Online account in an incognito or private browser. This mode will not save your browsing history and will also help isolate any web issues.

Here are the keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Shift

If it works fine, you can go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. Clearing cache fixes certain problems, like loading or formatting issues on sites. It also helps pages to load faster. Please make sure to restart your browser afterward.

You can also use a different supported browser as an alternate solution.

I've attached an article and screenshot for additional reference: How to reconcile accounts.

Let me know if you have other questions about managing your transactions in the bank register. I am always here to help.

Thank you for your quick response!  And so comprehensive!  Not sure what happened, as I closed out of bank rec and went back in, and there they were!  But this has happened a couple of months in a row now, so I will keep your answer and be ready for next month.  Thanks again!!!!!
