Trouble connecting Wells Fargo account to Quickbooks Desktop 2017

I am having trouble getting past the 2nd step of Bank Feed Setup. I am using the correct username and password for my WF checking account, but I have not yet been able to connect to it through QB. I have tried several solutions that have been posted and suggested. I even spent time on the phone with both Wells Fargo and Quickbooks, but nothing has worked.

The error message OLSU1013, and it also suggests I start FMS setup process at wellsfargo.com, but these seem to be deadends as well.

Is there something that I need to do to allow this to connect? What am I missing?

I can help you fix the error that you're getting when connecting your bank to QuickBooks Desktop.

 

There are possible reasons why you're getting this error and this may due to any of the following:

  • A problem at your bank.
    • They may have made changes to their service offerings, Web Connect or Direct Connect.
    • They may have made changes to their name (bank merger) that require you to refresh it in QuickBooks.
    • You may have an Inactive Bank Account enabled for Online Banking in QuickBooks.
    • Their servers may be down.
  • A problem with your Internet connection.
  • A problem with one or more accounts in your company file.
  • A problem with the download or import format.
  • A discontinued version of Windows or QuickBooks Desktop.

Hi, thanks for responding, but I don't believe any of these are the issue. My bank's name has not changed. I am able to log in on their site just fine. I don't have another account on QB. The only possible issue you mentioned that might be relevant is if Web Connect and Direct Connect are no longer supported. Do you know if Web Connect and Direct connect are supported by Wells Fargo for connecting through Quickbooks? I would think a lot of people connect to Wells Fargo through Quickbooks.

Web Connect and Direct Connect are still supported. Since you can still connect your Wells Fargo bank to QuickBooks, we can try some troubleshooting steps to better isolate this issue.

 

Try creating a sample or dummy company file and connect your bank from there. If it works, go back to your main company file then reconnect your bank.

 

To create a sample/dummy company file, here's how:

 

1. Click the File menu the upper left, then select New Company on the drop-down.

2. Choose Express Start and fill in the information.

3. Once done, click Create Company.

Let's figure out why  you're unable to connect your Wells Fargo Bank to QuickBooks Online.

 

Wells Fargo set's its own OAuth limitations. This is an authorization framework that enables applications to obtain limited access to user accounts on an HTTP service, the reason why it won't let you click continue when connecting your banks.

 

To resolve this, you'll need to go to the Manage Data Sharing page on the Wells Fargo website. If a user wants to stop an account from sending information to Intuit. To get there, just go to the Welcome button on the top right and choose Manage Data Sharing from the list.

I'm not sure how this got marked "Solved" because I know the solution and it is nowhere to be found in this feed (yet). The answer you are looking for is hinted at in the error message you get when your (correct) user name and password are rejected in the bank feeds setup screen. It says something to the effect of: you need to go to Wells Fargo FMS Setup. If you google "Wells Fargo FMS Setup", the first search result will be:

 

https://connect.secure.wellsfargo.com/auth/login/present?loginMode=jukePassword&serviceType=fms

 

You will need to enter your user name as password and then hit "Sign On". It will then ask to send a 6 digit code to your mobile (or other) device which you will need to enter in the box provided. Once you do this, it shows a message that you have 10 minutes to complete the bank feeds setup within the Quickbooks program. I am using Quickbooks Premier for Accountants 2016, and I just finished completing this process about an hour ago for one of my clients that recently changed their Wells Fargo login password. I think that is what triggered the problem.

I did what you described and it disconnected me. Here's what I got after I entered in my access code:

 

"Thank you for visiting.
Thank you for using Wells Fargo Online®. Your session has ended.
In order to access your account information, you will need to sign on again."

 

I am trying to connect a Wells Fargo Loan Account to my Quickbooks Online. It used to be connected, then got disconnect (don't know why), and when I try to add it now, that account is not listed as a choice.

 

I've been on the phone with both Wells Fargo and QB and they are each saying it's the other company's issue.

 

So frustrating.

Any help would be appreciated.

I had this same exact error code but with another bank, and everything I tried was unsuccessful until I did this.  I logged onto my bank and downloaded the latest transactions as a .qbo file.  Once it downloaded, I toggled to the already opened QuickBooks account that was giving me trouble.  Quickbooks then said it didn't have this account linked to a bank and gave me a choice to select an existing account or create a new one.  I was able to select the correct account and magically the information updated and now I have connectivity again.   As an aside, my other accounts had connected just fine to the same bank, but for some reason, the last one wouldn't until I downloaded the .qbo file via a web connect instead of direct connect.

Connecting your bank with QuickBooks is my priority. With that being said, I’d like an opportunity to share more details about error OLSU  1013.

 

Here are the possible reasons why you’re getting this error prompt:

  • There may be an ongoing problem with your bank (sometimes referred to as your financial institution or FI).
    • There may be critical alerts that need to be acknowledged after logging into Online Banking directly on the bank’s website.
    • They may have made changes to their service offerings, Web Connect or Direct Connect.
    • Your financial institution may undergo a major update on their end that needs to be refresh in QuickBooks
      • Change in the bank’s name
      • New bank URL or website address
      • Updated type of connection, Web Connect or Direct Connect
    • You may have an Inactive Bank Account enabled for Online Banking in QuickBooks.
    • Your bank may be undergoing a server maintenance.
  • Ensure you have a stable Internet connection while connecting your bank.
  • A problem with one or more accounts in your company file.
  • A problem with the download or import format.
  • A discontinued version of Windows or QuickBooks Desktop.

Here’s how to fix this:

  1. Enable TLS 1.2 Security Protocol if available.
  2. Create a new test company file.
  3. Run account setup with the Ctrl key suppressed.
  4. Create a new account, then merge the accounts.
  5. Deactivate ALL accounts with online services.
  6. Contact your bank

If the issue persist, I’d recommend reaching out to Technical Support team. A specialist will be able to look up your account securely and further assist you via remote access session.

Yes, you're right. You can connect your bank account using the QuickBooks Mobile App. This way the system automatically downloads your bank transactions in our program. Let me show you how to easily connect them. 

  1. Go to the Banking menu.
  2. Tap the Plus icon + to add an account.
  3. Find your bank from the list of popular banks or use the Search field..
  4. Select your bank from the search results.
  5. Sign in to your financial institution.
  6. Follow the on-screen steps to select an account to connect.

App is up to date.

 

Still freezes when it tries to open web browser so that I can connect my bank account.

 

 I guess I have to go buy a new computer 😪

Let's do some troubleshooting steps to help you connect your Wells Fargo account using a mobile phone, Barbs2.

 

Open a private browser from your phone's browser and connect the account from there. If it works, close it and clear the cache. Too much cache can cause browser error. To clear it, go to Settings:

  • Choose Safari for iPhone. Then, select Clear History and Website Data.
  • Choose Apps for Android. Then, locate the browser you're using. Click Clear Cache.

Also, I'd suggest trying a different browser if you have multiple browsers on your phone.
