Trouble linking a new bank account. Quickbooks found the bank, but it won't let me sign in.

My bank's name, web address and sign-in widget appear correctly in Quickbooks, however when I enter my credentials I get error messages. I've verified that I'm entering the correct log-in info but still no luck.

Trouble linking a new bank account. Quickbooks found the bank, but it won't let me sign in.

Greetings, @bfleming2.

I'd be more than happy to help you link your bank account to your QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE). Can you share with us what bank are you trying to connect with? This way, I'll be able to check here on my end if there are any related issues. Additional details are appreciated.

In the meantime, you'll want to upload your bank transaction to your QBSE account. I'd be glad to guide you how.

  1. Sign in to your bank's website.
  2. Follow the instructions to download your transactions as a CSV file.
  3. Once downloaded, login to your QBSE account and go to the Gear icon.
  4. Click Import and select the account you want to add the transactions into.
  5. Select Browse for the file you downloaded.
  6. Click Open.
  7. Review the columns headers and data.
  8. Select Continue to finis the import.

Here's an article you can read for more details: Add older transactions to QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Once done, you can now categorize your transactions. You can check this article for the detailed steps: Create rules to speed up reviews in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

You can always get back to us whenever you have other concerns. We're always around to help. Stay safe!

Hi,bfleming2.

I'm here to help you figure this out and connect your bank to your QuickBooks Self-Employed account.

So far, we haven't received similar issues reported. As an initial step, let's verify if you can log in to your bank's website through the URL that it has provided for online banking. Make sure you're using the same URL in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Let's try to connect your account using the bank's URL:

  1. Go to the Settings ⚙ icon, and then select Bank accounts.
  2. In the search box, enter the name or URL of your bank. Then select Continue. If you've already connected an account before, select Connect another.
  3. Enter the sign-in info you use for your bank's website.
  4. When you’re ready, select Connect securely.

If you still can't connect your account, I'd suggest getting in touch with our QuickBooks Self-Employed Support to have this investigated.

I'm leaving you some recommended articles to help you import your transactions manually as well as categorizing them:

I've got your back if there's anything else I can help with online banking or anything in QuickBooks Self-Employed. Keep safe!
