Trying to add splits into a deposit to show the value break down. One of the values is a deduction from the total income. I can't figure out how to show that in splits

I've got the steps on how to add a split transaction into a deposit, jon40.

Please follow the step below in order to do it:

  1. Click the + New button.
  2. Under OTHER, select Bank deposit.
  3. Enter the transaction in the Add funds to this deposit section.
  4. Select an ACCOUNT, and then enter the AMOUNT.
  5. In the second line, enter the other transaction.
  6. Enter an account and amount.
  7. Click Save and close.

If you only want to split the transaction, we can do this in the Banking tab. Here's how:

  1. Click the Banking tab at the left panel.
  2. Select the transaction in the For Review tab.
  3. Click the Split button.
  4. Select a Payee and Location.
  5. Enter a CATEGORY, DESCRIPTION, CLASS, and AMOUNT.
  6. Click Save and add.

Afterward, you're good to categorize and match the transactions. Feel free to check this article for the steps: Match and categorize bank transactions.

I'm just around if there's anything that I can help!

Trying to add splits into a deposit to show the value break down. One of the values is a deduction from the total income. I can't figure out how to show that in splits

Hi,

I have to split a transaction, bank deposit into 3 different classes.  However, I cannot enter the class.  I type in the class and it shows but it is not being entered.  If I use the down arrow, the list does not show the entire entries for the class.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello @OFM,

Your browsing history can be the reason why you're unable to select a class when categorizing a split transaction. Let's perform some browser troubleshooting steps so you can categorize them correctly.

Let's start by accessing your account in a new incognito or private window of your browser to check if this issue is related to your current browser or not. To do so:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Option P

From here, you can clear your regular browser's cache if you're able to select a class for your split transaction. If not, let's switch and use a new browser application and categorize your transaction.

Lastly, here's a few articles you can read to help manage your bank account and transactions: Banking and Bank Feeds for QuickBooks Online.

If there's anything else that I can help you with, please let me know in the comment section down below. I'll be always around ready to help.
