Join nowI have an account that was reconciled prior account closure, but there was an error made and the reconciliation adjustment is incorrect. As the account is closed, it is no longer "connected" to the bank, and so the option to "reconcile" (and thereby undo the reconciliation) is not available. How do I get rid of the reconciliation transaction? And then, how do I reconcile an account that is closed and cannot be connected to the bank (this is critical, as we have a second account that is not yet reconciled, and it will be closed at the bank before the reconciliation will be complete)
Hi, @dLearned
Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I’ve got you some steps here on how to adjust your reconciliation without reconnecting to the bank.
Here’s how:
1.Tick Accounting from the left navigation bar, then choose Chart of Accounts.
2.Go to View register.
3.Look for the transaction and change R (reconcile) to C (cleared).
4.Hit Yes to approve the changes
5.You can do the same procedure for you next transaction.
I’ve got you this article to help you fix issues for the accounts you’ve reconciled in the past.
If you wish to categorize bank transaction, you can also utilize this link.
Furthermore, you can undo or remove transaction from reconciliation. See this article.

How does this get rid of the reconciliation adjustment transaction?
And how does this perform a reconciliation on an unconnected account?
Thank you for posting a reply here in the Community, @dLearned. Let me help you undo a reconciliation adjustment.
Here's how to delete reconciliation adjustments:
To manually undo reconciled transactions, you can follow the steps below:
Check out this article for additional information: Undo or remove transactions from reconciliations in QuickBooks Online.
If you need to completely start over, reach out to your accountant. Only accountants can undo entire reconciliations.
You can post a reply if you need further assistance. I'll be happy to guide you. Keep safe and have a good one!
Thank you for your response. Sadly, I wish that there was a way to get back to the "reconcile" as it was before (tick boxes rather than having to click-change-save for multiple transactions), but I guess it is better than nothing
