We use payroll inside of QuickBooks, however, the direct deposit transactions do not “match” or come up when we select “find match” when reviewing the banking feed.

Let's get this sorted out, harpist.jlh.

Here are some possible reasons that could prevent the program from matching transactions in QBO:

  • Verify that the transaction has not been reconciled.
  • Verify the transaction was entered using the same bank account.
  • Make sure the Quickbooks Online transaction has not been previously matched to another bank downloaded transaction.
  • If it is a deposit or payment received, make sure it is not on the Bank Deposit page (undeposited).

Please do review the following to know the reason why direct deposit transactions don't match with transactions in QBO.

If you find the transaction to be matched in the register, you'll want to verify that they're not matched to another downloaded transaction or have been reconciled.

To do that, open your register. From the two Green squares in the Reconcile status column, check if they've been matched. An R indicates that it's reconciled. Both of these will prevent a transaction from being able to be matched. I've included a screenshot as a reference:

Here's an article that breaks down the process of matching bank transactions: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.
