What characters are considered non-printable in QB Desktop?

I am getting an error with the bank feed and I am having trouble finding a list of what characters could be causing the issue.

What characters are considered non-printable in QB Desktop?

Good day, @BookkeepingLaura,

I want to make sure we're on the same page, so I will need some information about this. Are you referring to the characters you assign to he Chart of Accounts name? Also, did you get any error message? Any additional information about the problem will greatly help.

In the meantime, there are instances when you will get server errors when you assign an unsupported special character, or a field that has more characters than what QuickBooks supports.

Here is a list of accepted characters in QuickBooks:

  • Alpha-numeric: A-Z, a-z, 0-9
  • Comma: ,
  • Dot or period: .
  • Question mark: ?
  • At symbol: @
  • Ampersand: &
  • Exclamation point: !
  • Number/pound sign: #
  • Single quote: '
  • Tilde: ~
  • Asterisk: *
  • Space: ( )
  • Underscore: _
  • Minus sign/hyphen: -
  • Semi-colon: ;
  • Plus sign: +

Please note that some of these characters may or may not work depending on which profile in QuickBooks you assign them. Also, anything that is not listed there are unsupported in the program.

I'll wait for your response on this. I want to make sure this is resolved, and I'll be right here if you need anything else.
