When I add another AX card: An online account has already been connected to this QB account. Please disconnect your previous AX account before proceeding. What can I do?

I get this error message when attempting to add a new AX (American Express) account. If I disconnect my previous AX account will it continue updating? What should I do so that I can update from both?

The error message you receive will pop up if you're adding multiple accounts for the same bank in your QuickBooks Online (QBO).

 

To connect multiple accounts for the same bank, you'll want to add them as a sub-account. Before doing so, I recommend checking with your bank and see how they send your download transactions.

 

If they download it to only one account, you can connect the main one. However, if it's not individual accounts, link the sub-accounts.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Accounting menu and click Chart of Accounts.
  2. Locate your American Express account.
  3. From the Action column, select Connect bank3.PNG
  4. Follow the prompts to connect your bank.
