Where can I find the R## reject code for a failed/returned ACH transaction?

Welcome to the Community, MarkB5008.

Intuit sends a check writer return email to the contact address you have on file when an ACH transaction you processed through your QuickBooks Payments account is declined by the customer's bank. This communication will include the specific reject code so that you can properly address it with the customer. Sometimes it's because there was a typo in the account and/or routing number(s), while other times it can be due to a restriction on the bank's side preventing the processor from collecting the money.

You can use the Automated Clearing House returns reference chart on our website to find more information about the reject code mentioned in the correspondence you received.

Here's a helpful article that explains how to account for a returned item in QuickBooks Online: Handle a rejected or failed bank transfer payment

I'll be here to help if you have any questions. Have a wonderful day!

Where can I find the R## reject code for a failed/returned ACH transaction?

Hello ZackE,

Thanks for your response.

The email I get does not have a R## reject code in it so I can't use the reference chart!

I am looking for the reject code somewhere in QBO-where can I find it?

Thanks for getting back to us and adding details about your concern, @MarkB5008.

You can log in to your Merchant Service Center account to see the status of the payment and check the R## reject code.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to the Merchant Service Center.
  2. From the Activity & Reports menu, select Transactions.
  3. Locate the transaction and check the status.

I also invite you giving our Merchant Team a call which can help determine the R## reject code.

Here's the link to contact them: Contact Payments Support.

If there's anything else I can do for you, you can leave a comment below. I'll get back here as soon as I can to help you again. Have a great day!
