Why are some of my accounts not showing in the category details? I checked my chart of accounts, and the account is there, but it isn't showing when I try to write acheck

For example: I am trying to write a check to a vendor (Notes Payable) but this account is not showing in the category details section. I've tried different browsers and signing in and out but it doesn't seem to help.

Let's work together to get the account showing on the category details list when creating a check in QuickBooks Online (QBO), Joshua.

We appreciate you performing some troubleshooting solutions to get this resolved. Aside from opening other browsers, let's ensure the accounts are active in your Chart of Accounts. Here's how:

  1. Go to Settings ⚙ and select Chart of accounts.
  2. Click the Gear icon ⚙ next to the printer icon.
  3. Choose Include inactive.
  4. If those accounts were inactivated, select Make active.

Once done, try creating a check again in QBO.

If the same thing happens, we can clear the cache to delete those temporarily stored files and browsing history. The collection of data over time can create corruption, and removing this can fix the issue. Also, we can utilize another supported browser or device if this doesn't work. This happens when the current browser you're using has a temporary issue with QuickBooks.

If the issue persists, we recommend reaching out to our Phone Support Team. They'll pull up your account in a secure environment and investigate what's causing this issue. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help (?) icon at the top.
  2. On the Assistant tab, click Talk to a human.
  3. Enter your concern in the Type something field, then click the Send icon.
  4. Click on I still need a human.
  5. Select Get help from a human.
  6. Choose the Chat or Callback option.

Moreover, you can refer to this article to help you pull up a report for missing checks in the program: Run a missing check report in QuickBooks Online.
