Why are there double entries (debits and credits) in my QB Self Employed transaction records?

Welcome to the Community, chuck43.

I'll be happy to provide some details about duplicate entries.

After connecting your bank account, your latest transactions will be automatically downloaded in QuickBooks Self-Employed. Seeing duplicate transactions might be a result of crossed wires. Since each bank are connected differently, QuickBooks may occasionally download duplicate transactions.

To prevent duplicate transactions in the future, you'll want to do the following:

  • Double-check your bank statement
  • Check your online bank connections in QuickBooks

If you are sure that the transactions are duplicate, you can exclude them by following these steps:

  1. Open QuickBooks Self-employed and from the left-pane, click on Transactions.
  2. Put a check mark on the duplicate transaction and click the Exclude icon.
  3. Select Apply to confirm.

Here's a sample screenshot for a visual reference:

For more information about the process, you can read this article: Handle duplicate transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Please don't hesitate to get back to me if you need anything else. I'll be around to help you out some more. Take care!

Why are there double entries (debits and credits) in my QB Self Employed transaction records?

I already figured out how to "exclude" the double entries, but that's more work and a redundancy I don't want to deal with.  The problem still exists and I would like QB's to come up with a solution to avoid double entries, vs leaving the corrective measures up to me to figure out.

The problem still exists and me hitting the "exclude" button is antiquated and a waste of my time.  Please address double entry issue I am having so that I am not left to have to...

Hello, chuck43.

Thank you for bringing this concern to the Community. I've checked with my resources and verify with our engineering team. We don't have reported similar issue you've encounter.

Let's check to identify if you're experiencing a browser related-issue by using an incognito or a private browser. You can open any supported browser, then follow these shortcut keys below to open a private window:

  • Google Chrome, press Ctrl Shift
  • Firefox or Internet Explorer, Ctrl Shift
  • SafariControl Option

Once done, check to see if you still unable to exclude double entries. If that works, troubleshoot your main browser by clearing its cache and temporary Internet files. If it's still an issue, try using another supported browser.

If the same thing happens, it'd be best to seek some help from our Support Team so they can further assist you with it.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with today. I'll be around the corner to help you out. Take care!
