Why aren't I able to sort by category under "transactions by tag"? Also why doesn't it display "from/to"?

I'm able to pull up transactions by tag but am not able to sort by category or from/to.

I've come here to ensure you can get the data you need when pulling up a transaction by tag, @erin-marketmymar

Before proceeding to the steps, could you tell me if you mean accounts when you say category? If so, you can sort the Transaction List by Tag Group report using this option. Let me guide you how:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account and select the Reports menu.
  2. From the search field, enter Transaction List by Tag Group then, click it to open.
  3. Next, select the Sort dropdown located at the upper left part of the report name.
  4. Choose Account on the Sort by field.
  5. Then, select Run report.

For your other concern, when you mention from/to, are you referring to the Report period? If so, you can simply choose the Custom option to specify the date range of the transactions you want to display. Let me guide you how:

  1. Navigate to the Reports tab.
  2. Scroll down to the Sales and customers section.
  3. From there, click Transaction List by Tag Group.
  4. In the Report Period section, choose Custom.
  5. Enter the date in the From and To box.
  6. Once done, select Run report.

I've added this article to give your more information in accessing your reports in QBO: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online. It will also provide you steps on how you can print or export the report.

You may also want to save your report customization so you can easily pull it up whenever needed. To do so, simply click the Save customization option and input the necessary details. You'll see the saved report under the Custom reports tab.

Should you have any other concerns in pulling up transactions by tag in QBO, you can always post here in the Community. I'm always available to help and ensure that your needs are met.

Thanks for your reply. Right now I'm looking at Transactions and then Tags and when i look at untagged transactions I am unable to sort by Category. The four green dots that show that the program is running never stop. It is also here that I do not see any from/to information nor can I sort by it. Please see image attached with details.

Why aren't I able to sort by category under "transactions by tag"? Also why doesn't it display "from/to"?

Let me guide you on how to fix this so your program is up and running, erin-marketmymar.

Thanks for the screenshot. There are times that the browser is full of frequently accessed pages, you can log into your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account using a private browser to isolate the issue. Here's how:

  • Press Ctrl Shift (Google Chrome)
  • Ctrl Shift (Firefox or Internet Explorer)
  • Control Option (Safari)

Once signed in, double-check if the program is already up and running. If so, return to your regular browser and clear its cache and cookies. This will remove older data that causes viewing and performance issues. If the issue persists, you can switch to other supported browsers.

Also, make sure you've created tag groups and created new tags and transactions to see the information you need. You might want to go over the setup. Please read this article: Tag Transactions in QuickBooks Online.

For more information, you may want to reconcile transactions after running reports. I've added this article for your guide: Reconcile An Account in QuickBooks Online

Let me know if you have any concerns about tagging transactions. I'm always here to help.

No, there is an actual glitch in the program. I spent quite a bit a of time on a live chat with someone to walk them through the issue and it has not yet been resolved.
