Why do older transactions show as pending

Thanks for checking in with us, wrinderer.

If these pending transactions are from your bank, these will show pending as well in your QuickBooks Self-Employed account. Hence, it will only flow in your bank feeds and let you categorize them when it's posted.

If you're referring to your receipts, this will show as pending status for approximately 24 hours as the system searches for a possible match within your account. If it's unable to find a match or there are multiple potential matches, you will find a Needs Action notification with appear on the screen.

However, if it's more than the allocated time and you're still getting the Pending status, I recommend reaching out to our QuickBooks Self-Employed support to have this investigated. Here's how:

  1. Click Assistant at the upper right corner.
  2. Type in "Talk to a human."
  3. Then select your preferred support method: Message an agent (Live chat), Call an agent, or Get a callback. Keep in mind, some options are only available at certain times.

In case you need help with categorizing your transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed, you can refer to this article: Updates to expense categories in QuickBooks Self-Employed. This will help guide you on how to report your self-employed income and expenses.

Keep me posted if you have any other questions about QuickBooks Self-Employed. I'm always up to keep helping. Have a nice day!
