Why does QBSE automatically categorize many (but not all) transactions despite having all rules turned off?

Why does QBSE automatically categorize many (but not all) transactions despite having all rules turned off?

Hi there, @peter_murray.

It could be that the system still recognizes the rule that you created. If you're no longer using the rules in QBSE, I recommend deleting them. This way, the system will not identify the rule and prevent it from categorizing your transactions automatically.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon at the top.
  2. Select on  Rules.
  3. Look for the rule you need to remove.
  4. Click the Edit drop-down.
  5. Hit on Delete.

If deleting the rule doesn't make a difference, let's try clearing your browser's cache. This will allow QBSE to load a fresh copy of your data. Web-based applications like QuickBooks Self- Employed collects cache files to speed up your browsing. However, they can often become corrupted and can be the reason that your transactions are still categorized.

I'm including an article that goes over this in more depth and provides steps for supported browsers: Delete or Disable Cache and Temporary Internet Files in Your Web Browser.

You can also check out this link about categorizing your transactions manually QBSE for reference: Categorize and edit transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

I've got your back if there's anything else you need. Just let me know by leaving a reply below. Have a good one!
