Why is my Paypal "Bank" not updating transactions? It loaded historical just fine, but no new transactions have come in since I set it up.

I recently set it up and no new transactions have come across after the initial set up.  It says it was last updated 5 days ago, but when I press Update it does not change - still says 5 days ago.

We have identified an ongoing issue about PayPal transactions not downloading in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Our Online Banking Team is currently working with your Financial Institution to resolve this issue.

 

While this is under investigation, I recommend giving us a quick call so you'll be added to the list of affected users. When you do, please provide this escalation number: INV-30570.

 

Here's how to reach us:

  1. Sign in to your QBO account and click on Help.
  2. Click on the Contact us link.
  3. Enter your concern and click on Let's talk.
  4. Choose either Start a chat or Get a callback.

Rest assured that updates will be given to you once this gets resolved. From there, your PayPal account should be updated and you'll be back in business in no time.

I'm having the exact same issue. It's been almost a year now since someone posted this topic, how come your developers haven't solved this yet?

If you link a program to another, issues may occur especially if one of them is having system updates. This also applies to PayPal and QuickBooks Online, too, gs2020.

 

The investigation for this thread has long been resolved. We have created a new investigation about this since we recently received reports from affected customers. I'd recommend contacting our Customer Care Team for them to add you to the list of affected customers. To do this, you can follow the steps provided by JaneD.

 

While this issue is still investigated, we can use a WebConnect file as a workaround. We can download it from your bank's website and import it to QuickBooks Online. You can use these links to import the file successfully:

I hope your day is going well so far. After looking into this issue about your PayPal transactions not updating, I've discovered that there aren't any on-going investigations at this time. They have already been resolved and closed. However, there are a few basic troubleshooting steps that you can take to help resolve this problem. 

 

Private Browser

 

Over sometime your browser will store data and if there's too much data than that can cause errors or even glitches within your QuickBooks. Using a private browser will start up a new session without any of the file data so that QuickBooks will work properly. 

 

You can follow the shortcut keys below, depending on what browser you're using.  

  • Google Chrome: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  • Internet Explorer/Mozilla: CTRL + Shift + P

If it works, you can go back to your regular browser and clear your browsing history

 

Use a different browser

 

QuickBooks recommends Google Chrome as your go-to browser to use for the product. 

 

If both of these steps don't work, then I suggest contacting our Customer Support Team. They have additional tools to look further into your account and see what's causing this issue.

Thank you for responding. I tried an incognito window and a different browser, and that did not solve the issue. It appears that PayPal Bank only updates once a day, sometime during the night.

June 2020 and this is still a problem. My Book keeper and I have been trying to resolve this for weeks. I just added my two PayPal account a few weeks ago and after 4 days of an endless loop where it would not connect at all, I finally got it connected. Unfortunately both accounts say "Updated 552 days ago" Interesting since I literally just added them a couple of weeks ago....On one account the last transaction data is from a year ago and on the other account it is from April 2020. I also have two regular bank accounts that are updating fine. 

 

There are a ton of accounting programs out there (many of them FREE) that you can upload .CSV files manually. I chose QBO because that is not a convenient option for me when I literally have a constant flow of transactions through my PayPal accounts. Needless to say, this is disappointing.

Paypal is not updating the entire year of 2020,  it only goes back to march, and I can't get transactions before this month

Let me step in and assist you in updating your Paypal transactions.

 

You can perform basic troubleshooting to see if it's a browser issue or not. This way, you can clear the outdated file that causes a small problem when you update your Paypal.

 

Please open your QuickBooks via a private browser.

 

Here's how:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P

 

Then, check your transactions. If you're able to do so without any errors, you can switch back to the main browser to clear the cache. You can also try using other browsers to isolate browser-related issues.

 

If still the issue persists, you can manually upload your transactions using the Excel CSV files to import the transactions into QBO. You can refer to this link for more details: Import bank transactions using Excel CSV files.

And another year later I am also experiencing this issue. Was on the phone with support for an hour the other day and the issue is not resolved. I also cannot add transactions that appear in the feed. I can create sales receipts and match them, but not add them, and at that point it defeats the purpose of a bank feed entirely.

I can see the urgency of getting this resolved, KellyFCC. And I appreciate you voicing your concern and reaching out to our support.

 

We're unable to provide an exact time frame when this will be fixed. Rest assured that our engineers are working to identify the cause of this issue to provide a solution. While they do, I recommend reaching out to our representatives again, so we can add you to the list of affected users.

 

In the meantime, you can use the WebConnect feature to upload transactions. For more information about this, take a look at this article: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.

 

Once bank transactions downloads, you can now start categorizing or matching them to straighten out your books. After that, you have the option to do your regular bank reconciliation
