Why is there no longer a customer slot when matching transactions from downloaded bank feeds on QBO?

Good day, @kfranklin1.

Welcome and thank you for posting in the Community. I’m here to share some information about your downloaded bank transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Received transactions should allow you to select a customer on the Banking page. You need to make sure that Track expenses and items by the customer in the Account and Settings is turned on.

Here’s how to verify:
1.    Go to the Gear icon at the top and select Account and Settings
2.    Select Expenses from the left pane.
3.    Click the pencil icon on Bills and expenses.
4.    Place a check mark next to Track expenses and items by customer to turn it on.
5.    Hit Save and then Done at the bottom.

Once done, you can now select a customer for your Received transactions.

That should get you going in the right direction. Let me know how it goes by leaving a comment below. I’ll be on a lookout for your response.

Thank you for the clear steps which I followed and found I have track expenses and items by customer on. However, it seems, intermittently, the customer box does not show up in the download transactions.  Today it is! Thanks again for you response.

Thanks for getting back to us, @kfranklin1.

I'm happy to know that this has already fixed.

I'll be glad to share a few details about the customer box in the downloaded transaction.

If the transactions are an expense, you can be able to see the customer box. But if the transactions are income, you can't see the customer box from the Banking page.

However, if you can't still be able to see the customer box even the transactions are an expense, you can run a manual update from the Banking page to show the customer box. Let me guide you how:

  1. From the left panel, click Banking.
  2. On the Banking page, select Update.
  3. If prompted, enter your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) credentials and select Continue update.

Also, if the issue persists, I'd suggest reaching out to our Customer Care Team. They have the proper tools like screen-sharing to verify what's causing the issue.

To reach them:

  1. In your browser, navigate to https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact
  2. Choose QuickBooks Online.
  3. Select the issue or topic.
  4. Click the Get Phone Number button to see the support number.

Should you need any additional assistance while managing your bank transactions, you can leave a comment below. I'll be sure to get back to you.
