Hi there, miltonseniorlivi.
Thank you for taking the time to visit the Community. I want to make sure you're able to update you're banking information.
Just to make sure I'm on the same page, are you referring to the information like the type, name, or description of the account? Or are you unable to update the transactions in the bank feed?
There are just a few steps to update the account details. Here's how:
1. Click the Banking tab in the left navigation bar.
2. Make sure the correct account is highlighted blue at the top of the page.
3. Select the small pencil icon in the top right corner of the blue box.
4. Click Edit account info.
5. Enter any necessary changes in the details window.
6. Select Save and Close.
If you're still unable to save any of the changes made, you may want to clear the cache in the internet browser. The cache can become bogged down with older data, potentially causing performance errors in QuickBooks Online. This article will walk you through the process depending upon which browser you're using: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/manage-data/clear-cache-and-cookies-to-fix-issues-...
I can also show you how to update the bank feed transactions. Just follow these steps:
1. Click the Banking tab.
2. Select the account you'd like to update.
3. Choose the Update button in the top right corner.
Items will be pulled from the bank and show in the For Review tab. From here you can decide whether or not to accept the transactions in the register. This article offers additional information on manually updating bank accounts: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community/Banking-and-bank-feeds/How-to-manually-update-bank-accounts/....
With this information, you'll be able to update your bank and get back to business. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks for joining the thread, @Grandmadean,
Can you please provide the exact error message you're getting? I need this information to check the case status with our Investigations Department.
In the meantime, you can upload the transactions manually to ensure the account is up-to-date. Download the data from your bank then map the transactions in the following supported formats or file types:
Once the bank file is ready, start importing the file to your QuickBooks Online company. Follow these steps:
For the information and steps on importing these files, see this article: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.
Please note that the Bank Feed will download these transactions once the connection resumes to its normal order. To avoid duplicates, exclude them to keep your accounts accurate.
Excluded transactions are moved to the Excluded tab, and won’t be added to QuickBooks or downloaded again.

I'm trying to update my banking credentials, as well. I have tried following your instructions, but when I select update, no error message appears. I tried following your instructions to go to banking edit function, but when I click on the pencil, I get "Edit Account Info". When I click on that, it brings up the chart of account info for the bank account. There is no Edit Sign In Info.
I can help you in updating your bank information in QuickBooks, @Cynthia15.
We can click the Edit sign-in info to update your bank info. Let me show you how:
QuickBooks automatically downloads the latest available transactions every night around 10 PM PT. You can also do a manual update to get the latest available transactions. We can simply go to the Banking menu and select Update.
In case you don’t see your recently downloaded bank transactions in QuickBooks Online, then you can follow the troubleshooting steps provided in this article to fix the issue: What to do if bank transactions won’t download or there's a bank error.

Your account isn't connected yet, @Cynthia15.
You've used your bank account to manually upload your transactions. This is why it'll route you to your Chart of Account info after clicking Edit Bank Info under the Pencil icon. Let's manually add your bank account to the online banking instead.
I'll be here if you need more help. Thanks!
I did as you instructed. I get a message saying the account is already connected to a bank feed. I haven't manually uploaded. QB has been automatically downloading my banking transactions since I started using the online version at least 2-3 years ago. Even though I haven't updated the banking credentials, it appears to still be able to connect. When I logged on today it had downloaded a new transaction. So, I guess unless it stops downloading them, I'll just stop trying to update it. Thanks for trying to help me.

I have a similar issue but can see QB is trying to sync with the bank. It gets the most recent (current) bank balance when I click the UPDATE button and I can see there is a $ amount difference between the QB bank balance and the BANK bank balance, and I know if I login to the online banking account there are two transactions that have not yet posted to QB, even though I have clicked update and the balance is updated. The transactions, in this case deposits, do not get sent across.
Let me provide some insights about QuickBooks and your bank balance, @rasmaninottawa.
The QuickBooks balance is the total balance of all bank transactions that you added or matched to QuickBooks. While the bank balance is your bank's actual balance from the last bank feed update.
Balances may not match for a number of reasons:
There are different steps to fix your issue depending on the factor mentioned above. Here’s an article you can check for a guide: How to Fix Differences Between QuickBooks Balance and Bank Balance.
Once you downloaded your transactions inside QuickBooks, you can add and categorize them so it will be counted in your books.
Let me know if you have other concerns. You can reach me out here. Have a blissful day.
I know why my bank balances are different, there are transactions at the bank that have not downloaded to QB yet. And when I push the "Update" button, those transactions do not download. My question is why are there transactions at the bank, that appear in the bank account, but do not download to QB when you push the "Update" button even though the balance is updated correctly? How do you get transactions to download properly?
Let me share with you some information on why bank transactions aren't updating, rasmaninottawa.
Normally, when your bank updates seem stuck, manually updating the transactions is always our alternative. Can I have the name of your bank so we can check if there any reported issues?
Moreover, you'll want to sign in to your bank's website to check if there are issues on your bank's end. You'll have to get the URL first that QuickBooks uses to connect:
If you can sign in, it's a good sign that there isn't a major issue. Next, check the following:
If everything looks good, go back to QuickBooks:
However, if you're still getting the issue, I suggest contacting our support team to investigate this further. They have the tools to pull up your account in a secure environment.
In addition, once you're done with the update, you can add and match bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.
Fill me in if there's anything else that you want about updating a bank. As always, you can always count on us to help you if you have any other concerns.
We use Royal Bank and our login requires an additional security question be answered, there are 3 that come up at random. Would these prevent QP from accessing transactions, and if so, how is QB able to get the current balance but NOT get transactions?
Thanks for the quick reply and for providing the banks name, @rasmaninottawa
I'll share some information and troubleshooting steps about your Royal Bank transactions that didn't update in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
I've checked our reports, and it seems that there isn't an open investigation with your specific bank. Sometimes, a browser full of cache and temp files can cause missing transactions even if the balance is correct. With this, I'd suggest doing a fundamental troubleshooting action.
To start, access your account via incognito. This browse won't gather any browsing history. From there, re-check the bank transactions if it's already showing up. If that works, please go back to your regular browsers, then clear the cache to sweep the slate. You can also use other supported browsers as an alternative.
If the issue persists, I'd recommend re-entering your bank account sign-in information in QBO to refresh the connection. Also, to ensure the credentials wouldn't prevent from accessing the transactions.
3. Re-enter your bank's credentials.
4. Hit Save and connect.
5. Re-tap the Update button on the right pane.
Once you've already seen the recent data, you can now categorize it to avoid duplicates. You can refer to the articles presented by my colleague above.
I've also added articles about balancing accounts, accessing financial reports, and other relevant topics.
Let me know how the troubleshooting goes by leaving a reply below. I'm here to help you with this matter. Keep safe.
I have tried all of those things and nothing works to get the most recent transaction(s) loaded into QB, I have to wait a few days. Despite the fact that QB has the correct balance "in the bank". The different between the QB balance and the bank balance is the transaction that has not yet transferred from the bank to QB. QB clearly is able to access the bank account because it gets the current balance. It simply is not retrieving the transactions.
Hi there, @rasmaninottawa.
You can download and import your transactions using the WebConnect feature. This feature allows you to upload transactions for more than 90 days.
Step 1: Pick a date range:
Step 2: Download transactions from your bank:

I have tried all of the suggestions to get my Credit Card account to update but none have worked.
I have 4 accounts with the same bank (Capital One 360) 3 of the 4 are updating but the Visa account stopped updating about 2 weeks ago. I have been doing manual downloads to get the current transactions since the account won’t update.
The account says it is connected. When I try to update the bank info I can’t see the info because the account is connected. I have copied the url and it is correct and I can log in outside of QBO.
i’ve run out of things to try & don’t understand why this one account stopped updating when the 3 other accounts from the same bank will update.
I appreciate all the steps you've done to fix this issue, fun4suz13.
At this time, I'd recommend reaching out to our Phone Support team. One of our agents there can do a screen-share with you and verify what causes the bank account to not update.
