Why will my Quickbooks Account not update my banking information?

Hi there, miltonseniorlivi.

 

Thank you for taking the time to visit the Community. I want to make sure you're able to update you're banking information.

 

Just to make sure I'm on the same page, are referring to the information like the type, name, or description of the account? Or are you unable to update the transactions in the bank feed?

 

There are just a few steps to update the account details. Here's how:

 

1. Click the Banking tab in the left navigation bar.

2. Make sure the correct account is highlighted blue at the top of the page.

3. Select the small pencil icon in the top right corner of the blue box.

4. Click Edit account info.

5. Enter any necessary changes in the details window.

6. Select Save and Close.

 

If you're still unable to save any of the changes made, you may want to clear the cache in the internet browser. The cache can become bogged down with older data, potentially causing performance errors in QuickBooks Online. I can also show you how to update the bank feed transactions. Just follow these steps:

 

1. Click the Banking tab.

2. Select the account you'd like to update.

3. Choose the Update button in the top right corner.

 

Items will be pulled from the bank and show in the For Review tab. From here you can decide whether or not to accept the transactions in the register. Still not updating after 1 month. I have gone through all the steps that support has told me to do. When will this be fixed. This has happened before. What is going on?

Can you please provide the exact error message you're getting? I need this information to check the case status with our Investigations Department.

 

In the meantime, you can upload the transactions manually to ensure the account is up-to-date. Download the data from your bank then map the transactions in the following supported formats or  file types:

Once the bank file is ready, start importing the file to your QuickBooks Online company. Follow these steps:

 

  1. Click Banking from the left navigation panel.
  2. Pick File Upload from the Update drop-down menu or Upload transactions manually if there isn’t any bank connected to QBO.
  3. Select Browse and choose the file you downloaded.
  4. Choose an account from the list, then Next.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to map the fields.
  6. Select the transactions to import.
  7. Click Yes.
  8. Hit Let’s go.

Please note that the Bank Feed will download these transactions once the connection resumes to its normal order. To avoid duplicates, exclude them to keep your accounts accurate.

 

Here's how:

  1. Go to the For Review tab.
  2. Check the box next to each transaction you want to exclude.
  3. Select the Batch action drop-down menu, and then select Exclude selected.

Excluded transactions are moved to the Excluded tab, and won’t be added to QuickBooks or downloaded again.

I'm trying to update my banking credentials, as well.  I have tried following your instructions, but when I select update, no error message appears.  I tried following your instructions to go to banking edit function, but when I click on the pencil, I get "Edit Account Info".  When I click on that, it brings up the chart of account info for the bank account.  There is no Edit Sign In Info.

I can help you in updating your bank information in QuickBooks, @Cynthia15.

 

We can click the Edit sign-in info to update your bank info. Let me show you how:

 

  1. Click Banking.
  2. Select Update. Let's make sure you have selected the appropriate account. 
  3. Click the Edit ✎ next to the bank name then, select Edit sign-in info.
  4. Enter your updated bank website username or user ID and password. If Error 103 appears, select the Reconnect my account link and enter your new username or password.
  5. Hit Save and connect
  6. Once you see a confirmation message, click I'm done, Let's go!

 

QuickBooks automatically downloads the latest available transactions every night around 10 PM PT. You can also do a manual update to get the latest available transactions. We can simply go to the Banking menu and select Update.

Why will my Quickbooks Account not update my banking information?

Thanks Raymond O, but that's what I've already tried to do.   When I click on the Edit pencil, there is no Edit sign-in info.  There is only Edit Bank Info which when I click on that gives me my Chart of Account info for the bank account.  I only have one bank connected, so that isn't a problem.

Your account isn't connected yet, @Cynthia15.

 

You've used your bank account to manually upload your transactions. This is why it'll route you to your Chart of Account info after clicking Edit Bank Info under the Pencil icon. Let's manually add your bank account to the online banking instead.

  1. Go to Banking.
  2. Select Add account.
  3. Enter your bank's website.
  4. Type in your bank's login credentials.
  5. Choose your existing bank account.
  6. Click Connect.

I did as you instructed.  I get a message saying the account is already connected to a bank feed.  I haven't manually uploaded.  QB has been automatically downloading my banking transactions since I started using the online version  at least 2-3 years ago.  Even though I haven't updated the banking credentials, it appears to still be able to connect.  When I logged on today it had downloaded a new transaction.  So, I guess unless it stops downloading them, I'll just stop trying to update it.  Thanks for trying to help me.

They have tools to check if there's an error on the bank connection. Here's how:

 

  1. Click the Help icon in the upper right of the screen.
  2. Select Contact US on the pop-up. 
  3. Enter what you're needing assistance with in the How can we help? field and choose Continue
  4. Click Get a callback.
  5. Enter your contact information.
  6. Select Call me.
