Barcode scanning and printing

I'm super frustrated. I upgraded to Quickbooks Enterprise solutions because I need to use barcode labels for our inventory. I have not received any reasonable help from Intuit in getting this set up. Can anyone make a recommendation as to resources to help me figure this out? Can you suggest a barcode scanner that works well? And a barcode label printer? I want to be able to put price tags on our inventory items for employees to scan at checkout. Any ideas how to print all the price tags at one time when receiving a purchase order? I'm totally frustrated after spending $4,000-$5,000 a year on Quickbooks and still not having reasonable customer service from them. Thank you!

Barcode scanning and printing

Hello ljtrailer!

I understand that you need to set up the barcode scanning and I don't want you to feel that way. I'm here and I'll make sure to get this done.

Let's check your barcode first. Although we're unable to suggest a specific one, we just need to make sure that it is compatible with QuickBooks Desktop. These are the things you need to consider:

  • Scanner must support EAN-13 and Code-128 barcodes
  • Scanner can produce a single carriage return at the end of the barcode

If you're unsure, I suggest you check with your barcode manufacturer so they can provide you with more info on its features and specifications.

For Warehouse Manager, note that it uses a different type of barcode scanner. You can check more details here: Setup and use the Warehouse Manager in QuickBooks Desktop mobile.

Also, the Advanced Inventory in QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise allows you to print barcodes. Just follow these steps:

  1. Select Print Forms from the File menu, then Label.
  2. On the Select Labels to Print page, select Item Barcodes, then choose the items you want to include or click All items if you wish to add all items.
  3. Tap OK.
  4. Choose the label format and add a number of copies under the Print Labels page.
  5. Tap Print.

In addition, I added these articles for more details on how to set up your barcode scanner and barcodes, how to update the existing ones, and how to fix printing issues:

You'll want to keep posting here if you have follow-up questions with this. I'll help you!

@ljtrailer

Another option, consider switching back to QBD Premier and integrate it with a 3rd party app with the barcoding feature. You can use your mobile phone with camera as the scanner.

Thanks. But this doesn't help. I  am frustrated as a whole string of Intuit agents have failed to help in any material way with this issue. How can I actually get help? I thought I was purchasing a software that came with support?

You are very kind to reply to my problem. Thank you. DO you have any suggestions as to 3rd party software options that may help? I am incredibly frustrated with Quickbooks and may switch to a different management software.

Click our username and send a private message to us. We will introduce you to the app developer later. Make sure you still have the backup file to restore it on QBD Premier. You should have time to cancel your QBD Enterprise and request a refund.

I just want to say for anyone who finds these posts that there are 2 incredible resources for companies facing the challenge I describe. One is the label connector software available from Accuware. The second is the Handi-fox application. Please check these 2 things out!
